I would think developers that wanted to or were developing for webOS would be more inclined to focus more on Android over Windows Phone. The WebOS was already on the fringe and Windows 7 for the phone was already at their disposal of choice. So moving from WebOS to Windows is well yucky feeling.

That's a good point. Microsoft should come up with some sort of campaign to win these developers over. They could maybe even include free phones, dev tools, and training, etc.

It did only take 2 to flatten japan, but you do have to compare the square mileage of japan vs Russia or china.

You also have to take the yield into comparison. Both bombs dropped on Japan had a combined yield equivalent of approximately 38 kilotons TNT. These days we have plenty of 100+ kt nuclear weapons, with delivery systems ranging from stealth to fighter jets to ballistic missiles.

Also, we didn't flatten Japan so much as we forced them to either risk further immense destruction or surrender. A couple of well-placed nukes could have a similar effect on a larger nation, provided that they also lack the ability to successfully retaliate. The situation gets more complicated with a country like Russia that has a diverse nuclear stockpile that we aren't likely to incapacitate before a return strike.

I don't see why NASA couldn't follow the same development model as the United States military has. For example, the Air Force doesn't develop its own aircraft; they simply announce what they want and let contractors do the engineering. As a guy who worked in the business, it's because:

    • Movie prices are effectively set by the distributors, not the theater.
    • 3D is considered to be a "premium experience", and thus costs more than the standard 2D version of the same film, which you can still see for the standard price.
    • In order to display movies in 3D, movie theaters typically have to invest in new equipment that far exceeds the simple cost of 3D glasses. Even if every movie-goer brought their own glasses, the ticket price still has to reflect the additional investment in production, distribution, and performance.
