It has USB, will I be able to hook up a monitor, ethernet, keboard and mouse via the USB port? Will it accept a PCMCIA HD? If it could, it would make a very good portible computer.

One thing that you have wrong is that the military can not tell when satilites are going to fly over the base. NASA has a program that can track over 100,000 different peices of space junk. In fact, NORAD can not only track all the US satilites, but all the Military and Commershal satilites. It would be easy enought to try to find out where a satilite is going by looking to see what kind of manuvers it is performing.

IIRC the Enigma was invented in the Netherlands for use by corperations in 1919. Then a German bought the rights and improved the disign and called it the Enigma.
Before the War, Some the Poles got a hold of 3 stolen machines from the German army and started their own codebreaking in 1938. Before Poland was invaded, the Crypto team from Poland smuggled all the stuff out to England and helped the British at Bleachly Park. (Sp?)
There are manyt good books about the History of the Enigma. Also NOVA and the History channel both have good programs on it if you live in the US.

One of the nicer features of Win98 is that it can use a generic notebook disply driver to drive the monitor, sure the screen redraws are slow, but it still works. I beleave that it is actually based on a Trident chip set so it uses a Generic Trident Driver.

  7. Win 98 Second Edition runs on Flat Panel Linux Box for $99? · · Score: 2

I know this is a bad thing to say on slashdot, but I got win 98 SE running on my i-opnener. I already had an i-opener (won at a trade show) I took a 1.2 gig IBM 2.5 HD that had all the cab files on it, booted off it, and was able to get windows 98SE installed. The Modem is yet to work, but from having An iMac 333, i have a USB Superdisk drive that runs on the USB port, and an USB to Ethernet adapter. I already have office 2000 running on it. One other thing, You can use any iMac Rev a-d memory in it. I popped in a 64 meg chip for the 32. I do think that the bios only allows 64 megs of ra, to be adrressed though.

If you have any question email me, I will try to get linux on a spare HD to Install.

All these companies and individuals made money with linux/bsd open source should start a project to make linux as user friendly as they can. I realize linux is the best server out there, but it doesn't do any good unless you can get linux on Mr. Average Joe's desktop.
I say stop fighting over KDE and Gnome and make something that my 55 year old dad can understand. Show people that a company other than Microsoft or Apple can make a truely user friendly GUI.

I think that this does not mean the end of internet sqatting problems. Right now there is a case aginst some guy in Canada who regestered his name, and is being sued by a NHL player becuase he thought that the guy will give it up.
Wake up, if a large corperation wants your name, they will get 20 Lawyers and drain your money. In this case this didn't happen and eToy got their name back. The average joe internet when faced with a knock on the door will be scared and give up the domain name, pull the web site, etc.. We need a site on the internet that lists all the pending legal actions aginst domain name squatting, having a legit web page being pulled (I am not talking about the WarEZ D00Dz) or lawsuits involving internet flaiming.
    Sorry about the long rant
I needed to get it out.
