The restrictions on water are on pure quantity - not on what you do with a given liter of water. You can brush your teeth or wash your face. No restrictions. No water company will say "Oh, this water filter belongs to xyz company so you can't use it with my supply". The power company will not say "You can't run abc toaster brand with my electricity supply".
The power and water companies do just fine providing equal service to everyone. Neither the government nor the water suppliers tell people what they can and cannot do with their water. Internet bandwidth is no different from a utility. It should get the same treatment.
A hammer is a clearly specialized instrument. A computer is not. Moroever, there's nothing stopping you from using a hammer for anything you care to find a use for. With computing devices these days, customers are ARTIFICIALLY restricted from doing stuff. And that is what I find offensive because the open culture of general purpose computing is one of the greatest achievements of mankind.
When you talk about "weapons", you can't refer to cultural norms. Nuclear weapons or guns affect everyone equally - there's no escaping them which is why they're called "weapons" - something that you can't escape. To call sex a weapon is just illogical.
I'm curious as to what link you think there is between sex and marriage. To my knowledge, there is none. You need not have sex after marriage and marriage is not a pre requisite for sex. They're two entirely different things. For you to talk about marriage when we're talking about sex is...utterly illogical.
Marriage is nothing but a contract on piece of paper. And that contract says nothing about sex.
Punish people swiftly for violence and all violence in India will end. No need for censorship and curbing free speech. Rioters are cowards who aren't afraid of consequences.
Let Indians be oversensitive. I don't care. But they have no right to express that "oversensitiveness" in violence. The government in India is way too tolerant of riots and people going on rampages without punishing them and making them pay for damage to property. THAT is why protesters in India are so bold. Enforce the law quickly and see how violence ends.
As for plain ol offence...well, no life is lost just by being offended right?
I'm willing to bet that Google will drop all its lawsuits if Apple does the same. But I'm guessing that apple would not reciprocate. Hence Apple=evil. Google=good. That wasn't hard no?
Don't you need to jailbreak for that? It's obviously not something that the average user will do. It's a hack and doesn't excuse the locking down of devices.
But there's scope for competition in the Android market. Any company can start their own app store and take a slice of those obscene profits and charge less than 30% if they want.
This is just a rationalization. PCs for example, don't have "app stores" and the ecosystem for them is absolutely fantastic. No reason why there should be different rules for installing software on PCs vs Smartphones.
Google allows you to install stuff from other sources. Developers are more than welcome to sell their files directly to customers if they find it expensive. Bet you didn't factor that little nugget of info into your argument did you?
Would you be in favor of a law legalizing drugs for childless couples only? If you have a kid, you go to jail. Because that's the logical result of your argument.

The power company will not say "You can't run abc toaster brand with my electricity supply".
And that's the fundamental difference.
The power and water companies do just fine providing equal service to everyone. Neither the government nor the water suppliers tell people what they can and cannot do with their water. Internet bandwidth is no different from a utility. It should get the same treatment.
How about having NO ONE control them? That would be a good law to put in place.
This sounds suspiciously like an attempt to get rid of net neutrality laws. "Remove government regulation" indeed!
Than ANYONE else? Really? So if you had to choose an ISP, you would rather use a corporation like say AT&T or Time Warner rather than Google?

Why does it depend on that?
It could well be a math issue - you don't believe statistics is a good way to find out the relative probability of something?
Hmm...as a man, I've yet to be harmed by this "sex weapon". Do you need a license for it?
Who is "they" in your rant? I'm an Indian and I support this mission wholeheartedly.
Using the phrase "moral high ground" in the same sentence as China is just...mind blowing.
When is Apple following suit?

With Apple, that's not even an option.

My pilot is more likely to be drunk than on heroin. And driving under the influence is illegal. Perhaps you didn't know that?
What?
Would you be in favor of a law legalizing drugs for childless couples only? If you have a kid, you go to jail. Because that's the logical result of your argument.
Oh I don't know...maybe because the child is a minor?
