I'll point out that the College of Engineering has always been a big time Unix shop, so it no suprise that they adopt Linux. Now, seeing the Medical School where I work adopt Linux would be a coup! Anyone got any ideas on how to pull this one off, cuz if I have to troubleshoot another registry problem, someone's gonna have a cadaver as a cube mate.
What do you think inspires such a level of hatred towards your work, and, for that matter, towards you personally? One only has to look at a few of th troll posts of late to find bile rivaled only by Chick pamphlets. Granted, your articles are often rather uninspired rehashing of old stuff, sometimes ignorant, and your writing technique leaves a lot to be desired, but is that enough to issue death threats? You've certainly touched some nerves. Do you think it has anything to with your status as a non-tech? Do you think some of the backlash is typical of that faced by any outsider breaking into a sub-culture?
Is it just me or are Americans beginning to fear their freedom? I mean every day we see another one of these bills aimed at "protecting children" or getting rid of pornography. Why is that we seem to want restrictions on our freedoms? When McGrath says that she was responding to the concerns of students, she probably was. The concerns of small group of radically repressivce students, but the concerns of students nonetheless. I'm thinking this all has something to do with the decline in voting rates and participation in government. The only people using their right to free speech seem to be the ones wanting to restrict it. Okay, enough ranting. I'll have to rant at my elected idiot now for all the good it'll do.
