What about finding veins to pull blood from?

My sister has leukemia and I was her bone marrow donor. Both of us had blood test after blood test. I'm lucky to have very defined veins in my arm, but she is not so lucky. Misplacing the needle in the arm can be a very painful thing. If the Glycerol is applied above the vein, nurses would have no problem in placing the needle.

Corinthian's is in the dictionary... and I don't see a definition that talks about a soccer team. :o)

  3. Re:Chill out man! on LucasArts and BioWare to Develop New Star Wars RPG · · Score: 1

Point well taken, however... wouldn't your post have been more effective if you would have "yapped about the topic" instead of "biting my head off"?

  4. Does Hemos read the article before posting? on LucasArts and BioWare to Develop New Star Wars RPG · · Score: 1
Hemos' post reads "the setting of the game is going to be prior to the Star Wars movies. I don't know whether that means prior to Episode I or Episode IV."

While the article is very clear on this point For the game, LucasArts and BioWare are creating an entirely original storyline set some four thousand years before Star Wars: Episode I.

I think it is sad when slashdot readers post without actually reading the article, but it is pathetic when the poster doesn't even read it!

  5. Re:Domain name = Internet "land" on Corinthians.com Taken Away, Given To Soccer Team · · Score: 1

True, but I hardly see the government's required intervention in this matter. They are not trying to build a highway... a soccer team shares the name with a book in the Bible!

  6. Non-illegal uses for Napster on Jupiter Report Says Napster Users Buy MORE Music · · Score: 2
I think people fail to realize sometimes that downloading music from Napster is not illegal if you own the music already. Why would you download the music than? Well, it's simple... you want to listen to it on your computer or perhaps you want to watch it with cool WinAmp plug-ins. :o)

Many people, including many media organizations and the music industry fail to see that Napster is only the tool. Copying information illegally has been around much longer than Napster. How many people have VHS tapes of movies that they copied?

  7. Domain name = Internet "land" on Corinthians.com Taken Away, Given To Soccer Team · · Score: 1
It is interesting that someone can own a piece of land and decide whether or not he/she will develop that land into just about whatever he/she wants (regulated to some degree of course), or not develop the land at all. It would seem logical, based on this truth in natural land, that this same principle would be applied to virtual, Internet "land", or domain names.

If the land is desired by another person/company, that entity has the option of purchasing the land from the owner at an agreed price. This seems like a very reasonable thing to do. The government should not, and can not decide whose purposes for the land are more appropriate.

Why doesn't the team purchase the domain name from the individual who owns it now instead of taking him to court about it. I'm sure if the man is not interested in developing or using his domain name he would be more than willing to strike up a deal that they could both agree on.

However, this idea would require the soccer team (and all those on their side of the debate) to allow the owner to maintain ownership of the land for any reasons he sees fit, including religous reasons. Perhaps corinthians.com is a sort of holy ground for him and he does not want to see it turn into a soccer shrine. This too seems reasonable as it would with real land.

  8. ANOTHER APPLICATION -- WarGames? on Minolta 3D Camera · · Score: 1

Anyone remember that 80s movie, WarGames? Hire gamers to pilot real war vehicles. Is this perhaps the method in which the information can be given from the battlefield? 3D gaming that isn't gaming. You're not playing Quake, you're playing Kuwait.
