  1. What is the furture of NASA in your administration on Ask the Presidential Candidates · · Score: 3
A question for all the Presidential Candidates.

In your administration what will be the future of NASA.

Will you future cut the NASA budget?
Will you scale back manned missions?
Will you scale back any current plans?

Or will you propose perhaps any of the following?

Research & development of a reusable interplanetary space craft.

More research in to the possible setting up of a lunar Science station, with possible commercial follow up.

Stepping up of Mars research, and possible manned missions.

More Funding for finding near earth objects in space.

More funding into reusable Earth to orbit vehicles.

Will you at least increase funding so that mission critical systems have the proper built in redundancies, so they don't fail.

What truly are your plans for us in space?

    Thanks

Basically I have what I am doing to my house, with Tips & Tricks on how to High Tech your house cheap.
I will be adding Mpeg's and Jpeg's soon, as well as all the tech specs you could ever ask for.
Now as far as funding, so far it has been out of my own pocket.
But I am always looking for sponsorship from any company wishing to give me their product in exchange for a link to their web site, and endorsements.
(As long as the product is a good one)

I just started this a few weeks ago, it is going slow for three reasons.

    1. I got laid off from MicroAge due to Clueless downsizing.
    2. I have been very busy look for a good employer in Arizona, around the Mesa area.
    3. Lack of sponsorship.

Check out the page, it will be changing a lot in the next few months, and when the weather cools here, you will see a lot of changes.
Also if you have Ideas; check out the page and then email me, I would love to add a submission page as well..
Maybe even links to other people trying to High Tech their House.

    Thanks for reading my post

  4. The Truth on H1B Tech Visa Workers Being Deported From U.S. · · Score: 1
Ok there really is no shortage of technical people for IT jobs, just a shortage of employers willing to spend any money on training.
You see employers think as soon as you get your training your off to work somewhere else.
Then they see their money going down the drain.

Or you have been around long enough to set up a Network to basically run itself, but management is in your way to make the improvements.

But with H1B, they can hold on to an employee for 6 years at slightly below average hiring cost, so training becomes an acceptable risk.
The new employee will be so happy to work for you he will kiss your butt, and make the coffee.
(Abusive work practices in the US look like True freedom to people from other countries)
Then after 6 years when the wage cost comes close to maxing out, you get another one that lowers your costs with an acceptable turn around rate.
In theory this looks very good on paper.

But Wait, you get to also work these people from 60 to 80 hours a week as needed.
Also a lot of people in their 20's and early 30's will also work these long hours.
But their is a shortage of people willing to work these hours or have 5 years experience in your network set up.

Break down of actual pay based on 50K a year.

    50k /52 = 961.5384615385 per week rounded down.
    961.53 / 40 = 24.03825 rounded down
40 hr work week = 24.03 per Hr
    (Same as some construction workers)

    961.53 / 60 = 16.0255 rounded down
60 Hr Work week = 16.02 per Hr.
(Same as some Semi & unskilled labor)

    961.53 / 80 = 12.0191125 rounded down
80 Hr work week = 12.01 per Hr
(About what a Pizza delivery guy makes)

Now what do you think about that.

First if your company thinks you should be willing to work more then 50 hours a week; you must ask yourself why?

Any Admin with talent should be able after 6 Months (lots of overtime) to fully automate the network to run itself to the point that you could work from home.
    Yes that right, remote Admin.
You should have all the redundancies in place, and a secure dial up feature installed.
You should have extra back hardware as well.

This does not have to cost much, but most companies are more concerned with controlling employees.
In fact the number one problem with corporate America is the need to Micromanage everything, even when they don't have the resources to do it correctly.

Now don't even get me started with the HR issues.

I think as a geek that all geeks tend to be seekers of truth.
Now we all make take different paths to that truth, and they may also differ widely.
But it still remains a search for the truth of who we are, and why we are here.

Now as far as magic goes, I'll say this.
Look in to the love of your life's eyes, a child's joyous eyes, or a Newborn baby's eyes.
Then tell me there is no magic in the world.

I my self believe that reality is some what subjective, and that we can have a degree of control over it.
How much control is the real question in that area.
But we must agree that life it self is magical, and can be full of wonder if we let it.

Now I will get off my soap box.

Ok, here is the SOP for labs that do weapons reserch.
All lab work done with radio active materials are done in labs located in undergroud or above ground bunkers. These bunkers are rated on how well they could take bombing or missle attacks. These attacks could be from nukes or non-nucular weapons. Now several direct hits from a nuke would most likely take out most of the bunkers, but I am sure some would be rated to still survive.
The thought that some people think a simple forest fire, will at best burn down a soild harden concreate bunker made me LOL and fall on my butt!
(Yea we just store the nukes out in the shed in the back, wanna see?)
The main reasons for the bunkers,is because of the cold war and the threat of terrorism.
Nothing makes the powers that be piss their pants more; then the thought of some nukes or fissionable materials in the hands of terrorist.

    Here is what I sent:

    Dear Rep McGrath
Please refrain from the type of unresearched poorly thought out legislation like your
    University Bill.
It is bad enough that anyone living outside of Arizona with an IQ above 80, thinks
our state government is a joke; But bills like this, that only add tax dollars and no
value to education, just reinforce their beliefs.
I would suggest that you try spending more time at some open minded web sites,
and do your own home work before, deciding how some one else should do theirs.

I have listed just a few of the issues you bring up with your piece of legislation
    The reasons are as follows:
    1. No matter how you try to filter out info some of the students will get around it
causing an expensive Tech race between the students and the IT staff.
    (IT = Information Technology)

    2. No matter how you choose to filter out Information you will always filter out
    legitimate research Information.

    3. The US Constitution does guarantee the freedom of speech, and it would look
real bad in an election year for your bill to get passed, just to be thrown out in court.

    4. The people you are trying to control by restricting access are for the most part
over 18, and able to make their own choices, and learn from their mistakes.

    5. The Universities are only partly funded by the the state and most of their revenue
is generated in the private sector, as well as in tuition, fees, research grants. there
fore it is not the states responsibility to become the Students baby-sitter.
Squandering what few dollars the Universities gets to enforce laws that can not be enforced reasonably.
