  1. Re:Yuck! on The New Zelda · · Score: 1

I have to agree with Gangis on this one. I find it extremely unlikely that I will be able to get even the slightest bit immersed in something that looks like a badly-drawn imitation of the Ranma series (which would be bad enough if it were a perfectly done imitation).

It seems to me that Miyamoto is going the same route that Lucas did with Jar-Jar. Sure, it might draw a few people in who hadn't played the games before, but he's snubbing the loyal fans with this, imho. Especially after the sneak peek we got in the E3(?) gamecube demo that was originally shown. I KNOW it said that some of the games shown might not be made, but I thought that at least Zelda would be released as shown, since it got the second best audience reaction (behind only Metroid).

I had planned on getting a cube as soon as they came out, mainly because Zelda 64 was, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant games ever created (and I've been playing all kinds of games since the Atari 2600). Now, though, I think I'll hold off until Metroid comes out (unless they plan on breeding it with Pokemon to come out with a cheesy version of this, too).

Granted, I may be mistaken, and this may be even better than Zelda 64. And the next version of Windows could concievably be stable, too.

Suffice it to say I'm extremely skeptical.

Riddle me this, Batman... A site is put up on the web making a parody of an individual in a relatively closed environment. The court system upholds the right of the person who posted the parody. A site is put up on the web making a parody of a large, multinational, monopolistic corporation - I won't mention any names *cough*MS*cough* and the persons responsible for the parodies are threatened with enormous fines and jail time. Funny how that works.

I have to say I disagree with your comments. While it is a good point that the server may have had credit card numbers stored, the fact of the matter is that it didn't (unless you somehow got tricked into putting in a card # when you registered). Think of it this way: If you buy a brand new Fjord Exploder 4x4, and 20 other people who have just bought that same vehicle were killed when they turned on the left directional and the car exploded, would you want Fjord to find out about the problem and do something to fix it, or would you rather just keep taking your chances that your Fjord Exploder is safe just because it hasn't blown up yet? I for one would rather hear about security leaks than have them left to be found.

  4. Immaturity on At Last And At Length: Lars Speaks · · Score: 1

While I agree that it is good not to censor the words of someone being interviewed, I also think that it is quite assinine to transcribe the replies word for word. People do not generally speak the way they would write. Censoring does not mean taking someone's words and taking out all of the 'uhh's and 'umm's to make their statement more readable. Censoring is the act of removing ideas expressed from public view. Lars makes some good points in his interview, but having to wade through a myriad of dashes and childish spite makes it much more difficult to read than understand verbally. my $0.02

Indeed, the newbies shall be helped tremendously by this much needed improvement. I can say this with certainty because I was recently one of those newbies who was baffled by the limitation - which was quite a pain to work around, not knowing the ins and outs of the OS. Kudos to the programmers for improving on The OS!
