By rewriting existing scientific programs, they say, researchers will be able to get powerful computing from inexpensive clusters of personal computers that are running the free Linux software operating system
If the music industry would focus on producing an entire cd's worth of good music, I'd be much happier to buy it. In these days of image before talent, it's easy to see why the public doesn't feel like spending money on a portion of a cd that they will enjoy rather than a rich listening experience that they'd call 'a good cd all in all'....
Exchange consumes all available system ram by default then deallocatess it as the OS, or apps need it. In versions before Exchange 2000, you could set a limit on how much ram Exchange would use.
Here is an earlier story that says that it is illegal to film police misconduct.
Now what we have is the police recording a person doing nothing wrong and released it to The St. Petersburg Times. From the article "The Times later sold the photo to U.S. News and World Report."
So, the press made money off of an innocent man, without his permission, in a deal that was enabled by the police.
Well, actually, it just comes with a 21" crt monitor on the Sun UltraSparc that drives it... No LCD Screen... Don't know what kind of printer you're talking about, but the dt6180 doesn't come with a LCD....
I see your point, but it depends on what type of printing you do. I work with black and white "laser" printers that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars (I don't really know how much, you'd have to talk to Xerox about the price, the bean counters could tell you though). What, that much? Well yea, but they rip and print 180 pages a minute. They are variable data printing monsters, but if you've got several million b&w unique pages to print, that's what you need....
It's all about finding the right piece of equipment for the job.
Why not recycle it? You can learn about the process Here
From the web page: "Used nuclear fuel can then either be disposed of as waste or recycled. By separating the three percent of waste from the usable uranium and plutonium, 97 percent of nuclear fuel can be recycled."
I'd hope for more from a news site... Slashdot seems to be pretty biased on this issue. So Microsoft = biased, Slashdot = biased, all things Microsoft/Linux related biased = bad... Hmmmm, where do we go from here?
Yea, Linux sucks, Windows Sucks, all OSs suck, who cares. The article sent many Slashdotters in a mad frenzy to their web site. Just like when someone says that Windows sucks, all the windows people run to that site. Slashdot gains too, all of us weenies rushing in here to make a comment that really doesn't matter get more banners flashed in front of us....
Sounds like RedHat is following in the footsteps of Microsoft. Let's start buying small companies up to make ourselves bigger.... It'll be an interesting trend to follow...
"Oracle's TPC-D benchmarks were achieved running Oracle8i release 8.1.5.2 on a single Sun Enterprise 10000 server using 9.81 Tb of disk storage."
Big Buisness is great, but there are plenty of companies out there that can't/aren't going to have 1 Tb Database... Ever.... Let alone a server with 9.81 Tb of Disk Storage.....
Get a girlfriend and make out during the commercials...
Oh wait, never mind...
I tried Picsearch.com and entered 'tits', 'boobs', 'pussy' and 'creampie'..
I was sadly unimpressed...

That's pretty clearly mentioning Linux.
Did anyone bother to look and see that those servers don't provide the service (Unreal stats) that they once did any more?
Questions about annotation and authenticity are covered in the faq here.
Don't know how valid the answers are, but there's something to look at...
Exactly. That's why it's my right not to buy it. That's my 'power' as a consumer...
Yes, I own about 450 cds. I've bought very few produced in the last couple of years, though. I choose not to buy cds that I won't enjoy.
It's not about not buying cds at all, it's about not buying cds that I don't enjoy, primarily cds produced in the last couple of years....
btw, I've also started listening to NPR when I'm driving around in my car.
My point was that music production has gone down hill. What was yours?

What's wrong with that?
Well, actually, it just comes with a 21" crt monitor on the Sun UltraSparc that drives it... No LCD Screen... Don't know what kind of printer you're talking about, but the dt6180 doesn't come with a LCD....
How cheap would a B/W printer be?

It's a game of mind control and you lost.
I don't know about Slashdot, but I saw this one about 6-9 months ago.... This is not new news...

Treak is dead... No New stuff.. Just the same old stuff... Dead.. Dead... Dead....
