I don't see how having a movie review is keeping news from happening. It's nice to have something to read in the spare time before important new 'news' happens. Besides, cinema is a hobby of the majority of Americans, I think that justifies 2 inches worth of text on the main page. If you don't like it, you can always just not click the link.
