there are actually several different file wipers available. freshmeat has two of them. my version of wipe is at: metalab and freshmeat. the next version will add block device support for linux. anyone know how to get block device sector counts under *bsd? in linux, it's a BLKGETSIZE ioclt
there's nothing wrong with criticism, but to say the code isn't free, isn't true. it's certainly not public domain, but it's not exactly trade secret, either. apple isn't as open as netscape, but it's still no microsoft.
mklinux development is definetly on going. in fact, i just ported darwin's serial driver to mach. took me 9 hours; note that during that time i was watching tv, playing with my dog, listening to the radio and on irc (not *all* at the same time, though). the point is, the darwin code is already being put to use. and it's not just useful to mklinux, there's a lot of code in there that linuxppc and linux in general could use (ie, hfs and hfs+).
on the topic of mklinux webpages, www.mklinux.apple.com is definetly out of date. there's a new site that's still in developement. it's up now, but i don't want to post the url here, cuz it could get slashdoted pretty easy (it's not on a t1) and as i said, it's not finished yet.
who do you think started the mklinux project? and ported linux to osfmach3? and ultimately, apples reasons for release the source are irrelevant, it's released and you and use it. tomarrow (wednesday) i'm porting darwin's zilog 8530 serial driver to osfmach3, if you need an example of how darwin is helping already.
where are the drivers? i want drivers! i want a zilog 8530 driver! i don't want to have to port netbsd's to osfmach3. i hope they release at least some of the drivers soon.

uh, since when did ibm dump moto? inferiour? is that why it has 4 times the number of registers? yes, i know risc on the inside (remember when all the x86 zealots said risc sucked?) and it has more internal registers, but that's almost as slow as cache; the compiler can still only control what's in 8 of them, the rest are up to the cpu's own cache like use of the remaining registers. if that's not enough, just look at the x86 mem arch. enjoy shift registers?
megaweapon!!!! that was the BEST! that and sidehackers. TORGO! btw, the paper chase guy's real name is robert ginty. anyone else hear see that other movie of his called "jail break" or something like that? it was from bbb productions, i know that. (just found a napkin from several years ago where i wrote that down, after seeing the movie)
i remember the first comedy central episode. "quick! stir or tang will settle to bottom!" comedy central was eleet, back in the day. onion world. higgens boys and gruber! clutch cargo!
anyone else here a member? i've been one since 5th grade. 8) i haven't gotten a newsletter in a while. i wish i got the scifi channel. anyone know if they're gonna sell tapes of episodes from any of the seasons? i haven't seen it since they left comedy central.

i'm glad be said no to apple and the g3's. steve jobs is an idiot and apple deserves to be unsupported for being unwilling to give be and others information on the g3's. i will never buy another thing from apple as long as they continue their proprietary(sp) practices. apple doesn't deserve my money or money from anyone else with a clue.

there are embedded ppc boards that are little endian. little endian is better for programming, but big is better for reading dumps, hex editing, ie. more human readable.
apple should sell redhat? redhat has never been interested in a ppc port. all the *.ppc.rpm's are created by [mk]linux[ppc] developers. debian, in contrast, is making a ppc port of it's.deb's.
remember gbbs? ACOS/MACOS and METAL were very nice. remember METAL? i spent 4 years rewritting gbbs. then i got a mac lc. then a 7100/80 which is running mklinux right now. i still have a//e w/ a 9MHz prototype Zip Chip, a 10meg Xebec hd, and a 20meg corvus drive. i also have MAD other apple// stuff. i never did get a GS. wish i had. i used to had mad pse/ascii art skillz. did bbs ads, etc. wanna know something funny? untill a few years ago, the pool switch (i think that's what it did) at ABC news in DC was an apple ][+ running a custom program. i know this cuz my dad wrote that program and used to work there untill last year. it also had midnight commander pinball. i think that was the name of the pinball game. i still think that that was the best pinball games ever. someday (when i get a cable modem) i'll plug into my//e's ssc serial port and have a telnetable ACOS/MACOS gbbs-like bbs. after 4 years of coding, that damn bbs is gonna do something. back in the day, i didn't have a second line and only one//e, so i couldn't run the bbs.

no doubt throught some kludgy shift register crap or something similar. x86's memory arch is the most horrible i've even heard of.
what the hell is the movie ABOUT?? that site is nothing but a bunch of java stuff!
this is truely a sad day. MIPS was vastly superior to anything intel ever had or will have for years to come.
