I remember one case where they actually changed the direction of flow of a river with a nuke. Then they had russian soldiers build a dam on the river to see how the radiation effected them.

Another part to the story dealt with a *museaum of horrors* kinda place with mutated children that were preserved. Most were still-born. I still have the immage in my head of a infant who possesed no legs but had what appeared to be a fish tail. And one of the children walking around the village possesed no eyes and was very baddly deformed.
Radiation can do some horrible things.

Guess what folks, you aren't getting paid to conduct personal bussiness durring your employer's time. While "on the clock" and using company resources, the ones who you work for "own" what you do. If you choose to do personal things (web surfing, stock checking or whatnot) on break time (with your employers consent for the use of their equipment of coarse), then you should be free to do what you will without the company monitoring you. Also, if your higher-ups get word that you are doing illeagal activities while at work with their resources, then they should have a limited right to watch you. And if while watching you, they observe activities that they don't like but are perfectly leagal, the TS for them. Barring the use of equipment for this reason at this point would be just plain wrong.

Ever hear of the Golden Rule?

How about if i came to your place of employment and copied every bit of work you did. For doing such, i was paid a salary similiar to yours. I "latch" on to you, one can not be fired without the other. But after a while, the boss stops seeing the purpose of paying so much for the little work that we do. He then fires you (us).

Did I "take" anything from you? Did all the work you do still make it to the boss? So i didn't "steal" from you. Are you happy with me?

Do you see the harm now? While you didn't physically "take" anything, you prevent (as in your example) Ford from making money from future SVT Cobra sales. What's the harm in that you ask? Well, pretty soon, Ford will stop designing new cars. Slashdoters must admit that this is a capitalist society, like it or not. Money talks.
