There is just too much money and too little demand. The rich and corp have a lot of excess income because of the cuts in their tax rates. The excess money is more than what the poor and middle class can borrow. The result is that real interest rate is almost zero. So all of this excess money goes into speculation, just bidding up the price of some financial commodity. This creates the boom and bust that kills the economy. As long as the excess capital exist the boom and bust will continue and the economy will be grind down.
Computerized the Rote learning. Simple stuff like flashcards to memorized words and equations. This will hopefully free the teacher to have a more interactive class. Students learn more when their brains are engaged.
The probability of a nuclear accident is proportional to the number of reactors. I think small modular reactors would only make sense if they were twice as safe as the larger reactors.
When you have different packages from different vendors it is very difficult to manage the upgrade cycle since each vendor has different release dates. It is also very difficult to integrate packages from different vendors. And extremely difficult to keep the integration working as you update the different products. You may save a lot of time using a vendor package instead of a custom build but once you have more than a couple of packages in from different vendors you start to have a lot of problems managing changes to them. .
When ever you get an upgrade from a vendor you have to do an entire retest because there is a lot of changes, most of which got nothing to do with you. When it is home built you only change what you need to and you can do a better job of isolating your test.
You should have spent more time improving your skills. But, you should know that many people actually love their jobs. Some can't wait for their weekend to end so they can start working again. As for the government paying people to stay home, I am not a big fan of that but I do believe that when there is a depression like now that the government needs to have Public Work Programs to provide gainful employment and Job Training Programs to retrain people for skills in demand.
Indians returning to India is old news. Not all Indians who come to America stay. Many return because they get home sick or they can't adjust. Many also return to India because they can get a better deal in India. For the same set of skills they can live better in India.
I think the following would be best to be productive:
1) A private office with a door. It doesn't have to be big. It just needs to be quiet.
2) Quiet environment. Don't need to hear the sound of the HVAC. Or other people talking.
3) Twin large screen, high res monitors.
4) A fast PC with a fast network connection. I shouldn't be waiting on a machine.
5) A good chair.
Familial testing could also be used to generate leads or reduce the number of suspects. It doesn't have to be perfect since it should not be used to convict anyone.
If you assume that fuel cost stays the same and the cost of the fuel cell won't decrease. Both assumption are wrong. This is the beginning of the learning curve for the fuel cell. Cost will quickly decrease. And the cost of natural gas will increase with time.
The Mirror Fusion facility was closed at the bequest of the Oil and Uranium industries. Many people don't seem to understand that these companies will do whatever it takes to protect their profits even if it means that the rest of the world suffers. Just look at the climate debate.
We need to develop a cheap high density energy storage technology. I think compress air bags make out of high tensile material like kevlar. Maybe located in deep water to help increase the amount of air pressure the bag can contain.
Coal and oil is not cheap. The problem is that the largest portion of the cost of coal and oil, the damage to the environment, is not paid for my the people profiting for coal and oil but by everyone. We need to charge the coal and oil industry a useage fee for using our environment as a dumping ground for their toxic poison.

Also the craters that no one can find are right there. Just look at North America using Google map. You see all those lakes, well they weren't formed by no ice sheet. The three largest lakes: Great Bear, Great Slave and the Great Lakes form a straight line. If you saw Shoemaker/Levy then it should be obvious what you are looking at when you look at the map of North America.

but its better than the old designs. I would agree to a one to one replacement of the oldest plants in the most unsafe locations.
