I read that to say that MS has the right to seek damages (sue) from all those people who had something to do w/OOo before this agreement and after it. They'd still have to win a lawsuit that proved they incurred damages, possibly to IP, patents, who knows.
So that little provision doesn't really change anything for users. It simply tells Sun that MS can sue them for actions they have taken (and future action they take) w/OOo regardless of this agreement not to sue them for 10 years.
I just recently moved into a new apartment. When I did, I chose to get only the basic cable service. That is, the $9 package (first 15 channels, plus some of the 70's). I previously had the UberPackage (dvr's, every movie channel, etc). Since I work close to my home, I eat lunch in the comfort of my own place. This is the only time I watch tv. As I've found in the past few weeks, 90% of the time I'm watching C-SPAN. Very informative television in most cases and I feel like I'm learning something.
So, I won't be giving up tv for a week (otherwise I'd be staring out the window while I eat my lunch). However, I feel I've already effectively reduced my tv watching to almost nothing.
I currently have a 120GB raid0 array (made up of 2 60GB drives). I plan on getting a single, large HDD (preferably 120GB) and a hot swappable bay to do backups with. I went through this whole decision making (tape? cd? dvd?) and realized that a HDD is the best solution. I have a fireproof safe that I'll store it in and just backup data once/month.
ps. burning 30GB of mp3z takes a long ass time. I did that before I made this decision. Do not waste as much time/CD-R's that I did.:)
Hey there! I would just like to say that there is a HUGE lack of females in the Computer Science department at my college. I mean, I may have 3-5 women in a class, but they are the same ones I've seen since freshman year and none of them look good.
So, WOMEN!!! Please join the Computer Science department at your school! Just think, if you do....you have a 50% chance of breeding more female computer scientists.....or something like that.
