  1. Re:RF T1!! on Microwave T1 Service · · Score: 1

That's unrealistic though. The ISP needs to be really huge to offer that amount of bandwidth... just think... if they have five hundred subscribers with RF T1, they'd need 17 T3 lines just to keep up. That's a cost of more than 1 million dollars a year for htat many T3 lines. To be really competitive you'd need to charge less than $100/mo... with 500 people you'd be in huge debt at the end of the year.

First, let me say that KDE is my favorite thing currently out there. I like the widgets more than any other... er... I don't want to say window manager.

Without looking at the programming aspects, I find Windows NT/9x the nicest interface. This doesn't really deal much with the question at hand... but I wanted to state that. The Windows widgets are small, yet work well (when the OS chooses to run anyway:).

I find too many borders and oversized task bars in Linux. I have a large monitor and run at 1280x1024 resolution... yet I still find the task bar and border space consuming.

I am sitting here on my workstation, and comparing the UI to my Windows laptop.. maybe it's the font support, maybe it's the icon size.. I can't put my finger on it.

And as far as the programming goes... I've really only used Perl/TK and hacked up various KDE apps. I have nothing to say about the code... I'd rather have my code fit in with the "window manager". That way one only needs to hack just one config file to make my apps look pleasing to them.

But all parts were sold to a recycling centre (only a couple of dollars each however).

Give me GOOD true type support, less bulky widgets on most programs, and game support and I'd be very happy.

I made the switch to 100% linux six months ago, and I'm not really looking back. (seven months ago my primary machine was windows and I did a hell of a lot via Exceed to my secondary machine which was Linux based)

I'm starting to see game support... q3 seems to be the best linux game I've seen. But not enough for my liking.

It's the most awesome experience to go see the movie and right after it drive into the woods and turn off the engine and the lights in the car.

I did that to my friends when we saw it (we went to the 12:35am showing on Saturday). One of my friends was really freaking out by the dark woods with the wind causing the trees to sway and light to bounce off the various metal objects dumped in the woods.

The movie WAS actually filmed on just 16mm and NTSC video camera.

Remember, film students have access to fairly good VHS and Betamax cameras.

That's why this movie will make a huge profit since it cost pennies to make.

I played with it on my workstation though... it's neat. But I can do the same in Perl... over the years I've simplified many of the module calls like rebol.
