  1. When Will it Happen on Fiberless Optical Networks · · Score: 1

Who's going to try it first? I think it's going to take a little while for this to spread. Most people don't have bandwidth to waste or to spend on trying things like this. It will be huge companies that have the time and money to spend doing it and eventually it will spread to people that actually use it or need it.

  2. Re:I have a friend at Dell on Dell & IBM Both Shipping Linux · · Score: 2

That's a flat out lie. They simply started getting wind of what was happening with Linux and started trying to offer it to people. As well as the demand that was starting to creep up got them to start offering over 6 months ago. It was not widely known at first and was mainly on request, but now you can get it directly off the web site.

  3. Effective Solution on From Paper To PDF? · · Score: 1

I've done that before and although not the most beutiful method it does make it cross platform. Just embed the PDF into an HTML doc and then place keywords into the HTML doc and then set a search engine on top of it. It works. -j

The Jornado is great. As far as HRR it's nowhere close to the Palm. I've always been a Palm fan but have recently had a chance to use the HPJ and like it very much. The hardware and technology lets you really do a lot with it. I was at a conference recently and saw the wide array of things that will be available soon for these devices and was very pleased. I'm not the biggest MS fan but I can say that at least CE is a stable platform. I think a desktop version of CE would be great for terminals and such.

  5. Compaq=Trustworthy? Hardly on Linux On iPAQ 3600 Handheld · · Score: 1

Why would I want to get something from Compaq? They are one of the most closed system proponents out there! If these devices are anything like Compaq desktops or the other iPaq you can definitely count me out!

  7. Re:Could the state cases have gone direct? on Appeals Court Will Take Microsoft Case · · Score: 1

True. It's called a bifurcation, I beleive, and would result in two cases. I'm sure that MS would love that. Besides, I think that they feel they will have a much easier time coercing another judge to "take care of their problem." Can you say free lifetime support for Office!!! -jingy

  8. Re:Why microsoft did this... on Appeals Court Will Take Microsoft Case · · Score: 3

Part of the reason for not going to the supreme court is that due to the way the case is structured only part of the case would be allowed to be heard by the SC. Thereby splitting the case into two seperate cases which, of course, MS would never want. Especially if they can go this route and get it all swept under the rug... -jingy
