And how many users are you going to get under this unenforceable law? You can't just arrest thousands of people just because of somebody's complaint that they feel a pinch in the bank. Sure, it could be the user, but the cost of arresting, seizing and legal costs would exceed whatever Lars sold himself to get (probably at least tenfold).
Besides, how do you get the people who *don't* use napster to get mp3's, which is a good deal of the population as well? You aren't even considering the mass amount of people who use chat channels, to get these mp3's. Sure, I've done the mp3 thing myself, but the copyright law is a joke considering enforcement
Looking at your record, I'd could reasonably prove that you use mp3's that you didn't buy, but I am unable to know which ones due to you and those you deal with due to you working in places I can't follow

If there hasn't been something that's been a pain, it's spam... but there is one solution, it's called the delete command. If you can't just press one key and get rid of it, I don't know what is going on with you having to make more effort than what would be a simple action. You don't reply, you just delete it. Soon, it will appear that fewer messages you receive will be spam... and don't try the "you don't run a server" excuse, as the same can apply. dev_seph, spam neutral as ever.
Sure, the site is a good idea- but it won't affect the distribution of mp3s, it might even encourage distribution. And even then, what keeps this paylars site from being a scam? Sephir0th, because (C) means nothing but greedy, big business.
As much as the script is based on the linux operating system, it'd be not much to port it win32, but knowing the people at slashdot, it'd be impossible, since they'd think anything win32 would be a waste. If there were at least any tips on how to do this with out the ego drunk penguin, or any of the unix based extensions, there might be some good code. -Sephiroth, 'cause the penguin's d.w.e. (drunk with elitism)
Since when is it a good thing to censor an ISP just because it has these "open relays"? If you don't want spam, there's been something out there that's been there a long time called the 'Delete' key. Press the key, and then it's gone. if you can't gather the strength to press that key, you're probably running *nix or *bsd and cannot do much stuff without tiring oneself out.

In reply to the anonymous coward who says that the DMCA doesn't apply to himself or herself, it does. This comes in the form of the Berne Copyright Treaty. This makes a copyright valid in any of the countries that have agreed on this, thus your friendly gestapo-like equivalents of the US Marshals will be knocking on your door and regard you much like you were a drug dealer. And for those of you lucky enough to not have that shackle on your country, you probably will get cooperation from your country towards the United States(if the organization deems neccesary, but you may not get this), thus you are screwed by this law again. Hence, be careful on what you do unless you have enough defense on hand to defend yourself.
