    The real question should be why do programmers write web apps that display differently on differing browsers. Assuming this isn't willful sabotage unlike the case of MS making Hotmail not work on Opera. This was achieved by moving text 30 pixels to the left so as to make the text look all jagged.

    NO, NO, NO, it's always Firefox that has the memory leak issues. Chrome clones certain features of the Gazelle browser OS that don't exist yet.

    How do you quantify human behavior and peoples confidence in the opinions of supposed experts. And in the case of the sub-prime crises, the brokers diced-and-sliced the mortgages so as the buyers wouldn't be able to tell they were worthless.

    So, if a broker makes an offer and an expert says to buy, and people believe him, then they buy and the stock goes up. Else they don't buy or sell and the stock goes down and the expert is replaced. Simple isn't it. I should patent the formula ..

    A real solution would be to have an independent third party inplimenting and documenting the protocols. What effect has the antitrust case had on Microsofts way of doing business. It strikes me that the whole business of 'updating' and documentating the new protocols is nothing more than MS doing business as usual. Which is continually keeping Windows a moving target so as to continually wrong-foot their competitors. Publishing API calls and some source code was not exactly what the EU commision meant when they said open up the protocols, as Microsoft well know. The difference between this and the eleven year old US case is that the EU commision seem to actually want a real resolution.
