    Actually it goes like this:

Everybody has got to invent their own wheel once, and when they realize how big amount of work is needed,

Well this just proves the greedy and savage times we are living. Little optimism, altruism and goodwill wouldn't hurt you, dear AC, either. But unfortunately it'll take lot more than hundred years for humans to truly rise above animals, to understand the possibilites of consciousness over instincts. Understandably, that miracle will never happen to you, dear AC. Anyway, what better way to use your "intelligence" than having a freshing war with you neighbouring nation, say Vietnam, or even Yugoslavia. Now that's the true spirit.

Build a community around your product, available to buyers only. Maybe companies have need for tailor-made version of the product, discussion forums about updates and development, next versions etc. Companies don't care so much about cost of buying, it is the cost of using they are interested in.
If there REALLY is no room for this kind of support, try the donation-way. Make the product open source and tell the users (especially if they are compaines) that you would like to continue development etc. and some money would do good. It may work, Open Source IS the Buzz-word today.

I am answering to you since you were first :). I can very well understand (do I really?) the effect of relativity, but it doesn't rule out some sort of absolut timing. Of course it is debatable if it has any meaning, but consider if there could be some sort of frame of reference, through hyperspace or something. The book was about aliens with higher technological level (no, I haven't read it yet).

I think I know what you mean about impossibilty of omnipotence, but I think also it is wrong. My opinion is omnipotence is not impossible, we just can't understand it. And that is the basic reason why technology (in my opinion) can't be called God - god-like is different story - beacuse technology, by definition is something we do understand, at least those who have made it.

No, of course not in this case, but what it reveals, is that real-world analogies fail with net for one reason. Anonymity. As long as everything isn't traced and supervised by big brother, these things will continute to happen. Face it. If same kind of anonymity where possible (in large scale) at real world, the villains wouldn't get caught (in large scale again), and who would pay for stolen goods? Nobody? Or owner of the car? The latter of course.

So, for your own safety, accept the future. It's really no big deal, since there really is no anonymity in the real world too. It's temporary privilege for netizens now, but not for long. There must be some reason and order in net too. I've spoken.
