I've dealt with communitech before, and I have one thing to say about them, "They SUCK!"
Our website was running on a 2000 box with ColdFusion. Yeah, I know it's sick, but that doesn't give them any kind of excuse for our site to be down 6 or 7 times a day. I've also dealt with Media3. We got a "Semi-Dedicated" server, which means we only share it with 1 other user. At one point in time, they took down our site, blaming us for taking down the server, with slow coldfusion scripts. It took them 6 hours to realize it was the OTHER site's fault. Needless to say, we didn't stay with them much longer. In the end, we ended up buying a dedicated server from the guys at Rackspace. Now that we admin it, and not some dumbfuck MCSE, our uptime is much, much better. There have been 1 or 2 network outages, but they only lasted for minutes at time.
Anyways, the point of this post was to teach you a valuable lesson that we've learned much too late, and therefore costing us a lot of money.
Don't host on shared servers. Always get a dedicated server that you have root/Administrator access on.
(P.S. I wasn't trying to plug rackspace in, you can also use CAIS and other services that do the same shit)
Not to annoy all of you GPL evangelists, but in all honesty this is by far the best thing! When I ask friends, "Why don't you install Linux?" The answer is always the same. "I've got to go to school, and I don't want to get another computer, and StarOffice sucks because it's slower than Word." Because MS going to be ported its stuff over to Linux, this will actually move more users to switch!
If I remember correctly, the PowerBook G3's weren't very hot on your lap because of their low power consumption. And, if I'm correct on this also, the G4 does use more power than the G3. My (late) AT&T laptop was HOT all the time. I hope not to see the samething in the G4, esp. when I think back the cube. Apparently, they get so hot that if you cover the holes on top, they'll shutdown in 15 minutes because of overheating. I wonder how they plan to fix that problem on the G4 laptops.
Therefore there should be a small amount of people, like, 1,000 ppm. (parts per million). I pulled that number out of my ass though. I want to live in a world like Brave New World. Go read the book, VERY good book.
The speed of sound underwater is much, much, much faster than the speed of sound in air because water is more dense. This means that the molecules are closer together and therefore have to travel much less to push over the next molecule (sound). If you're going through a solid material, the same concept applies.
Most of the older software companies should GPL their old source like what id did. I mean, wouldn't it be cool to rewrite your own versions of Warcraft? I like this company already. And old hardware comps. should gpl their schematics and all the relative specs, too!
This is so typical of Mr. Jobs, whenever something doesn't go his way, he has to destroy something/someone else. He has publicly humilated many people, including our good friend Woz, who for some reason, still believes Jobs is a good friend of his. Here's a quote from http://www.woz.com/letters/general/04.ht ml: "But he eventually fell into disfavor with the LISA group. Naturally, the Macintosh became a bit of striking back for him." He hurt a lot of people at Apple. (sigh)
Newer things are not always better. Esp. when it comes to software. Usually, the newer it is, the worse it is. That's because of bugs, developers having to learn how to develop for it, etc.
VB isn't good at all. It's a shitty interpreted scripting language that's extremely slow. Using perl+Win32::API or whatever it's called, I'm sure perl would be more efficient than VB for doing almost everything, and it's easy, too!
There is not reason why he has it, he was born with it. They first started at puberty. The reason why he wears those glasses is because they filter the bursts, kind of like the way that if you put red glasses on, it filters the red. So if you look at something that's read with red glasses on, you see it as white.
Hooking up computers to queer objects for the purpose of music has been done before. I know someone that built a recorder (something like a flute) that worked with one of his own standars >:). He made the interface from a bunch of solenoids and a BASIC stamp. (www.parallax.com). He assigned each of the holes on it a number, and by using combinations of this, and second pauses, he was able to make it play marry had a little lamb! Pretty cool stuff.
Why keep MacOS X backwards compatible? It's killing efficiency: Another difference in the path separators used by the file systems was also an early issue. HFS+ uses a colon (":"), while UFS uses a slash ("/"). This is now handled transparently by transforming the strings automatically, so that Carbon and Classic applications see the colon they're expecting while all other portions of the operating system see the slash. Yay! Now we have to s/:/\//g everytime we run an older application. As for the file permissions when we create a file on an app that was meant for OS9, how it's relative to the dir that we're in, doesn't that pose some kind of security hole (IE, someone saves in:documents, documents is 777 so that every user in OS9 can read/write, now that means that anyone else who runs the same app can now read in:documents?
or something.

It was already explained how the households without computers+inet access will get their e-mail. The USPS will print it, charging a fee to the sender.
For your info, I was at PC Expo, they said that the OmniSky for the Visor thingamajig is coming out this fall.

Apache does, in fact, run apache, not necessarily linux thouhg: Server: Stronghold/2.4.2 Apache/1.3.6 C2NetEU/2412 (Unix)

You made a mistake in your link, here's the corrected one: http://xvoice.sourceforge.net
They were slashdotted by the slashdot effect!

If you guys want more information on exactly HOW they recover this information, check out this page: this page.
Uhhhh....this is what overwriting does. It overwrites over the sectors/inodes over and over again with bullshit. Read this for information: bleh.

OpenBSD does most, if not all of this very easily.
That already exists. Check out RealNames. So far it hasn't gained much popularity, but google supports it.
