  1. Very Cool on Galileo And Cassini Team Up · · Score: 1

this is good news for the ridiculed NASA.

this kind of joint project if sucessfull will be a note of "hey we can still do it!"

the problem with buget and popular opinion is a terable toll on NASA.

the world as a whole needs to get exited about space travel again. we sent men to the moon in a tin can and some of the items left there (ive heard) are still working.

i guess we just cant build them like we used to.

    YAY NASA!

(i want to book my vacation on the moon but they will not let me yet..)

ive got some very definative veiws on M$ and its products.

its very simple. computing is no longer just for the geek inclind. all of win products have endevored to make the computing experiance as easy for the end user. personally i have several win machines with avariety of M$ products installed (still have a running 286 buffed up to take Win3.*) i keep these machines up and running to stay informed and praticed in what i do.

unix/linux is a wonderful OS i think its great. i agree that OS vs OS it comes out on top, but when im on call and something happens all the linux knowledge in the world will not let me figure out WTF windows is up to with the agrivated user.

i was never happier when the imac came out. its cute, its out of the box good to go and the average user has no idea whats going on inside. (too bad there isn't really a pc product so marketed (as far as i know))

so im happy with cruddy M$ products they keep the majority of us employed, provide us with a scapegoat and humor. really is MS really that bad?

because all bill is trying to do is provide a quality product that makes the customer happy and helps the computer perform the users requests. is this a bad thing? personally i dont think that the antitrust lawsuit was justified. just because MicroSoft makes a quallity product that just happens to be on 75+% of all systems doent mean MS is trying to .............

    Gahhhhh!!!!!!

someone might want to check the coding on the new WIN2000 screen savers they make your head spin.

KA-chunk im cocked, locked and ready to rock for the resque! all i need is a 4" target image and POW! the problem is solved.

beg borrow steal what you need to get into nanotech U (lol) i wish you the best of luck! wish i was going with you and cant wait to try out the uber server the size of a dime.

but im sick and tired of people belittling ourselves over science. look if some maniac getts the grey plague going then it will happen. same way anyone can push the button, shoot/stab you in the street and get hit by lightning.

chop up animals, blow up small islands in the south pacific, train ants to organize small screws in space! if i gets the rest of us who dont get to play with the real toys something like silly putty then im all for it!
(mmmmmm real toys... imagine no budget and a industrial/millitary machine to caiter to your every whim...)

    yay! science!

and whats wrong with Canada eh?

depending on the good graces of a superpower for protection?

1)the military machine of the US would have ground to a halt without the natural resorces of Canada during WWII

2)the fact that our regular troops beat your "elite" troops in every military games since the 60s.

3)US military/industrial conspiricy vs the Avro Arrow. (nuff said... i dont need to get on a rant)

the current concept of the military is outdated. the nature of war has changed so much in the last 30 years that the current/previous system is in need of change. (see your own militarys experiments with the new "tech warriors" and the changes that face the military machine.)

funding for space reserch is needed. i belive more advances that benifit mankind as a whole have come from space reserch. (as opposed to new ways of killing us off then preventing it. the millitary has a habit of cause before cure discovery)
personally i really want off this rock...

i find it hard to belive we put people on the moon in a tin can and got them home and due to bugets we can't but a tin can on mars.

    Proudly Canadian eh!

so you upload your brain into the computer (as seen in previous /. news) and you take some cells that are in good order. start the clone in the vat and then reboot it while the neurons are forming with the back up brain tape. bingo! child with all the knowledge/memories from the host body with 60+ years to develop its own! woohoo it might not be perfect but it would keep things going. personally im more into the idea of vat growing my own organs if i need a replacement later. but this is all part of the same reserch. (just think take a scraping from the shroud of turin and we could solve the mystery in 9 months. and before i get flamed just remember the bible doesnt say how jesus comes back...) ah, get used to it were entering the age of science fact and all those realy bad sci-fi book might come in handy to second guess how to deal with it.
