Given the screenshot, it seems likely that this is a port of the Potemkin emulator which was released under GPL about a year ago. I have not tested Potemkin but, i haven't read that it's fake anywhere either.
They do currently have some kind of copy control / DRM solution for renting DivX movies over the internet, involving.tix files and the 'Playa' or whatever it is called now. Whether this system is secure or not, I don't know...

I got the RC iso of ubuntu and thought I would try the torrent file of the final on the RC. Turns out they are 21.7% identical...
