  2. Wake Up on Cooperation in CS Education? · · Score: 1

No matter how prestigious you think your school is, at *least* half of the students there are complete dumbasses (which, coincidentally enough, mimmicks the real world...). Every single group project I have ever done, from first grade on up through college, is an exercise in taking advantage of the Smart Guy. We all know it's true, and the stupid people pretend to ask for "real world" group experience because they are lazy, plain and simple. Working in groups for school is NOTHING like the real world because in the real world, the people who sit and stare while the rest work get fired.

It is impossible for a professor to really evaluate who did what unless they're sitting there while it's happening, but in the real world, the idiots will eventually be found out.

  3. Um, aren't we forgetting something here on Kubrick's 2001: A Triple Allegory · · Score: 3

Let's all keep in mind that kubrick can't be attributed for the creation of the name "Frank Poole" or the label "TMA-1". Sure, perhaps he came up with the hexagonal shape for part of the ship, but the author here is making half-assed 'connections' about a man who only made the filmed version itself, not the darn book. So not only are his connections half-assed, they're being pointed at the genius behind a man who didn't even come up with them.

  5. Conditional Branching of Logical Flow on Enter The 'Stupid Patent Tricks' Contest · · Score: 1

A means by which "programmers" allow for bi-directional software logic flow. Nicknamed "if", this construct allows one to direct program flow based solely on my un-obvious and completely original idea of conditional logic. An example in english would be "IF I want to trick innocent people into paying me money for their use of thought, THEN you must grant me this 'patent.' ELSE talk to my team of high priced lobbyists."

You can believe in a divine plan without thinking that we are the final goal of creation. What if the creator uses evolution to get what he wants? We may just be one step in the chain, but that doesn't mean that the universe is an acciedent.

  7. Re:Isn't That Our Purpose? on Spiritual Robots Symposium · · Score: 1

We may have a reasonably strong grasp on how the system *works*, but we have no knowledge of HOW IT CAME TO BE. I will be the first to accept it when we do figure it out, but until then I attribute it to an outside force (I avoid calling it "God" because atheists are too sensitive).
