    My point was I don't think these things are being built for overseas deployment. This thing is made to order for domestic surveillance. If you sent one of these blimps to Syria or a hotspot where the hostiles have real stockpiles it would last five minutes.

    "Conspiracy" implies our government efforts to control citizens are done in secret. The reality is they have become quite bold in recent years.

    As pointed out elsewhere in this thread there is a difference between a design patent and a technical patent.

    IMHO design patent law too closely mimics trademark and copyright law in that it represent corporate and marketing identity more than real innovation.

    The PADD devices seen on The Next Generation, DS9, and Voyager all did things that are major selling points for the iPad and iPhones.

    * Touchscreen device
    * Played video and sound
    * dynamic user interface could be customized to serve the application
    * Video conferencing
    * Loaded and saved information to the remote storage (In this case the a ship or Starfleet computers would be "the cloud")
    * Data could be synced between devices
    * Device could be re-configured to remotely control a workstation (remote desktop)
    * They even have rounded corners
    * Devices could be encrypted

    All of those functions are demonstrated or spoken of in episodes or described in Mike Okuda's ST:TNG Technical Manual (Okuda was the lead designer on most of the newer television Star Treks)

    All of this predated any patent filings by Apple.

    ...from a design POV it would be a argument worth making in court. It wouldn't even matter that they were non-functioning props. A US patent is just a drawing, it doesn't need to represent a working prototype.

    80 knots = ~ 92mph. That's a slow crawl compared to other aircraft. And it can fly at 20,000 feet. Sitting duck for a SAM.

    A big, slow air vehicle like that isn't practical for flying over an overseas theater. So I wonder who this thing is designed to watch?

    WTF? I thought GNOME 3 was pretty much designed as a tablet GUI. It sure as hell wasn't designed with desktop users in mind. Are they suggesting they made those radical changes without thinking of touchscreens?

    More reasons to go with Mate desktop (Gnome 2 fork).

    The use of a fingerprint and a pin together would raise the security further still. Many institutions are switching to two forms of authentication, which is why you're seeing more security questions. A fingerprint is a second authentication that an account holder doesn't need to remember.

    You're not alone in wanting to see a new Incredibles. I'd love to see Pixar use it's new corporate ties to Marvel to have a few cameos by some 60's Marvel favorites. The Incredibles meet an early Fantastic Four, or a Ditko style Spidey, or Namor the Submariner, or a Grey Hulk...

    Yeah, I'd see that movie.

    I'm fine with a slightly larger phone as long as it's comfortable in my jeans pocket. The iphone screen is too small IMHO and I don't like typing on it. I like a big more screen real easte.

    Last night was the first time I was able to demo a Galaxy 3. I held it next to my Galaxy S2 (Sprint epic touch version) The G3 is a hair longer because it has rounded edges. The screen is .5 inches longer and it's mostly accomplished by having less bezel area. I'm fine with that kind of change.

    The Samsung Note is another story. That phone is huge. I don't want a phone the size of a Kindle fire.

    They're human and they have a right to free speech and expression - outside the court. The problem here is discussion of issues relating to a case that will be heard in Judge Harvey's courtroom. These aren't comments he made years ago and just now he's being reminded. Harvey saw he was having his fifteen minutes and couldn't keep his mouth shut. He either had to recuse himself or he laid the groundwork for an eventual appeals process.

    Sprint has zero roaming for voice and data, but they have no arrangements in place to offer 4G in areas where they haven't turned on the new towers you've mentioned.

    I'm with Sprint because my employer gets a 17% corporate discount so they're the cheapest option for me.
