    Of course, realistically, they may be happy enough selling to those who don't mind non-free drivers

    Are there any non-free drivers?

    You get a copy of the drivers with the card you buy, and download any updates FOC from there website. No Charge!

    I have had the idea for ages for a sim where you are the Signal Man at a crossing, and you must close the gates before a train passes, and open them after it has gone. Not much more than that tho!!!

    I remember years ago using a MDA and VGA card in one machine, to run on VGA and debug on MDA (good old Turbo C).

    Anyway, AFAIR, ISA runs at the speed of the slowest device installed (MDA in this case!).

    Now I don't know if this still is true for PCI/AGP, but if you find your machine slowing down, it may be the old MDA card in your machine.
