Whether you prefer a touchscreen or not, that doesn't make the iPad a better device than my netbook. If people want tablets that's completely up to them, and I'm pleased for them that they're happy with something that doesn't work as well as a device that costs half as much. However if anyone asked me if it was worth buying an iPad I would give them the advantages and disadvantages of it over a netbook, recommend the netbook as being more useful to them and let them make their own mind up about it.
One of those necessities is as good a resume as possible. Doing this will look very good on that resume. By the way if it's so shit there and you think you can earn more then why stay?
Think about your next job not this one. Your willingness to work in your own time to improve the efficiency of your colleagues will look superb on your resume and provide an excellent answer to interview questions along the lines of "give me an example of when you helped to improve the efficiency of your team".
My NETBOOK NETBOOK NETBOOK NOT LAPTOP is pretty much the same size as an iPad, can do a lot more and will fit in the hypothetical mum's handbag quite easily (assuming she has a big enough handbag for an iPad in the first place). And if this hypothetical mum finds that it's running out of RAM or storage space she can go to a shop and get it upgraded for about the cost of a replacement iPad power supply. I don't think one size fits all, I'm not one of the delusional morons on here who thinks that an iPad, which costs 400 pounds, is an adequate replacement for a good NETBOOK NETBOOK NETBOOK NOT LAPTOP, which costs 200 pounds. If you want a crippled giant iPod that's up to you but don't try and tell me that it's better than a NETBOOK NETBOOK NETBOOK NOT LAPTOP because it quite clearly isn't, except for a few edge cases like the navigation charts example.
Tablets are the future apparently. People keep telling me that on here and calling me all sorts of names when I point out all the things that I want from a computer that tablets can't do, like run my software or upgrade the storage or RAM without having to buy a new tablet.
I don't. I just don't see why a tablet, and particularly an iPad, is better than a netbook as far too many people assert on here because let's face it, it isn't. It's impossible to upgrade, twice the price, a fraction of the storage and doesn't run anything like the amount of software and hardware that a netbook can. If you want a tablet then have one. However don't try to tell me that a 400 quid iPad 2 is better than my 200 quid Aspire One because it most certainly isn't.
I'm abusive on this site from time to time. It rarely gets a positive response, usually eliciting abuse, silence or hurt feelings comments. However I usually feel better about it, although my housemate saw me mid-abuse once and told me that I looked like a psycho, which has cut down on my bad behaviour somewhat.
Back on topic: yeah those Japanese really fucked up huh.
That is a legitimately useful use for an iPad and much better than "can browse the web while making sure everyone can see the big shiny Apple" that everyone else on here seems to use as an example. However it's hardly a mainstream use is it?
You can carry a lot more books and notes on a 160gb hard drive, an 11in screen is just as easy to read as a 10in screen, and if I was to run out of storage I wouldn't need to buy a complete new device. I agree that Apple make great machines, I have an iMac, but I'm fucked if I'm going to pay for something I can't upgrade, or if I want another 16GB of storage I have to pay £100 extra the cheeky fuckers. That's what's keeping me from owning an iPhone as well. Why can't I put an SD card in it? Because Apple want to rip their customers off that's why.
I read your comment earlier and decided to see if I could get the same spec machine for less from Dell as an example. I managed it. It was about 5 GBP cheaper for a similar spec machine with a 27in 2560x1440 screen like the iMac has. I'm quite happy to have paid 5 quid more for a higher quality device.
I'm neither of those 3. I paid my own cash for my iMac because it was the best machine for the money I was willing to spend and I have no interest whatsoever in fanboyism. I like my Mac but I've got no interest in criticising other people's choice of hardware.
Who told you this? Last time there were updates for my Lion machine it informed me that updates were available and offered me the choice of whether or not to install them. If you don't have a Lion machine why bother to post about how it works?
IE6 was all about making sure customers would find it difficult to migrate any applications they wrote for it to another browser and the fact that it is still around today is a testament to how successful that policy was but is also hilarious how Microsoft are now trying to get their customers off it. How about paying for all the work required and issuing a full apology for its awfulness followed by Steve Ballmer having to do the monkey dance until he passes out.
If you give me the money I will. Otherwise fuck off telling me what to spend my money on. Perhaps if it didn't cost a ridiculous 100 pounds for just the upgrade then perhaps more people would be upgrading.

I've worked in government and there was never any downtime there either. Must just be education.

As opposed to a far cheaper netbook on which you can do all of that and a lot more besides, like being able to type without losing half the screen.

Broken Enter key at the very least or else written in an extreme state of nerd rage.
But they've got guns which are magical things that allow a single person to hold off heavily armed gangs and/or the best equipped army in the world.
Or better still use Chrome since Safari is a monstrous memory hog on OS X.
You're hardly new here. You should be well aware of all the crap Apple get here.
You must be new here if you think no-one says anything bad about Apple.

Could've or could have NOT FUCKING COULD OF
I bought a netbook in 2010 with Windows XP on it. Are Microsoft going to pay me to upgrade? If not then I probably won't be.
