Do you have WinDVD installed? There seemst to be a problem with WinDVD somehow interfering with the game. I had the same problems (Sims allways crashing after just a few minutes) and after removing WinDVD everything worked fine.
This reminds me of high end audio freaks who paint the outsides of their CDs to prevent environmental light disturbing the laser, or fill their Amps with acrylic so the electrons in the circuits wont be affected by vibrations.
Agree, pushing the Mhz is no big step ahead anymore. Making quantum processors work would be one huge step ahead, as it would render many boundaries of current theoretical computer science useless. But would Intel and AMD still be the main contenders in that market?
