Huh? After Europe opposed ACTA (and Australia signed it without a blink) you still cheer for Australia? (maybe you should change the tone to a "booo" and let the politicians know about it).
I would suggest you to stay tuned on the next step, which is TPP - also negotiated in secret, with a higher potential to damage the "free! free! free!". Maybe you'd feel opposed to it? If positive, let me point you to a petition to be signed (backed, among others, by EFF).
No on here believes that BS. But at least for some American families this will be jobs and a bit of security.
Don't forget some extra income tax for the US govt. You don't expect the govt to stop from benefiting from this extra security of some american families, do you?
Cause it's jobs for Americans , paid by selling goods to Americans and that America has traditionally made better products than the Chinese.
Cheap is nice.. but jobs and peopple who have money to spend on products built in America makes America grow stronger in the world arena.
Stop thinking it's nationalism and patriotism . Buy American goods to give jobs to Americans. Simple and just what America needs : jobs jobs jobs.
Hmmm... let's see.
Assume $100 for Made in china and $200 Made in US. Further, assume that the extra $100 is a difference that goes into the cost of labor (so an american employee will have it)... everything else stays the same (Google profit, Google corporate tax, cost of components/raw material/energy/env protection).
* Buy Made in China - "US citizens" are less $100
* Buy Made in US - US population is worse by -$200 (price) + $100 (wages)=-$100 - the same, isn't it? Except... hang on... income tax for the $100 wages? Say 10%? Well, US population: -$110, US govt: +$10.
WTF? Either I'm wrong somewhere (where?) or US population is worse of and only US govt gets to profit?
Isn't to have "jobs, jobs, jobs... production costs/price be damned" somehow better for the population only if you can export what you produced? And, outside your own country, can you find a market willing to pay higher for an item that does the same as a cheaper one?
Funny or not, what I suggested doesn't contradict your line.
What I said amounts to: for them to survive, they'll need to find a niche; either dirt-cheap to make (e.g. the "senior/elder mobile phone" is so basic most probably it costs pennies to make, but is still sold in the $40-80 range) or to sell it as a fashion item at truly ballooned prices. Being "smart" or "enterprise targeted" won't do it any more: too many other brands are already smart enough and "Bring your own device" + "cloudification" move is in full swing
Light rain, I can see this working, but a proper Texas Downpour (a.k.a. "cow pissing on a flat rock") is probably going to block the signal after 300m of heavy rain, even at higher energies.
Depends how high those higher energies: around 20 kt might improve the visibility for 1-2 km.
I don't know why you're so negative about it. Even a false alarm would mean Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck will be sent up. It's a plan with no drawbacks!
Only for the first one... what about the next? I mean... were will you manage to find another Bruce Willis, Einstein?
Why would you buy a Yugo if for $10 more you can own a Lexus?
Because one may no longer drive a Lexus? Or, just as a statement, Yugos may become fashionable again? (those bastards with disposable income... one can't predict what they'll have in mind next).
noone has forgotten that. What America seems to have forgotten is their laws are applicable within their borders.
Currently, their borders include NZ, Australia and UK. They are also working hard to extend them to: Chile, Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam and Canada.
Also for the money spent to develop this weapon, how cheap will be the counter-measures?
Copper is fine (higher melting point and greater thermal capacity than aluminum) but reinforced concrete with the rebar internally welded together would be much cheaper, more generally effective, and should easily be able to cope with the very limited power available from any human-built weapon.
What's wrong with a lightning-rod? Use a set of them if needed: mount them in from of the vehicle to be protected so that the distance between the vehicle and a rod is larger than the distance between the rods.
Just saying.... the simplest answer is usually the right one.
The the annoying thing about sayings - one can found others, equally plausible/witty, pointing towards the contrary Like: "There is always a well-known solution to every human problem--neat, plausible, and wrong."
'Panguite’s primordial nature means that it was actually around before the Earth and other planets formed, meaning it can help scientists learn more about the conditions in the cloud of gas and dust that gave rise to our solar system.'
How can one be sure a meteorite that fell on Earth in 1969 is representative for the "gas cloud and dust that gave rise to our solar system"? I mean, can't the meteorite be originated in other start systems?
Well, about how much extra are we talking about? Will it drive you in the bankruptcy? Will you need to cut your food allowance significantly? Or is it a petty amount? Until some can estimate, the "sky is falling over CC on NetFlix" may as well be just a matter of "teabag-ims to extreme".
That's nice, but I should point out that your "petty amount" is my "I'm dropping Netflix". Economy sucks, my friend.
Your choice... should netflix keep you as a customer instead of making the movie available to deaf people? (economy sucks both ways).
Why do they deserve it? Lets assume for a second that netflix gets it's content from content providers. Some of it comes with close captioning, some not. It's a limitation they have no control over. The service costs next to nothing per month. Are the rest of us going to have to pay extra so the good people at netfix can afford to insert extra content (close captioning) for disabled people to watch those movies?

Lets say I owned a house and then decided to move and had a garage sale. The house has stairs up to the yard and not a wheelchair ramp. Should I be sued because someone in a wheelchair wanted at my yardsale even tho I didnt have the easy means to include them?
Is selling your house for the sake of having a "garage sale" your everyday business (or can one look on it as "one-off"... or as a "hobby", at most)?
Im all for anti-descrimination, but at what point does this become un-deserved entitlement?
Yeah... you are stepping on a slippery-slope here: the moment you start caring about the "goat in the neighbors' yard and how much your neighbor deserves it"... What's next? Assessing by yourself that it is undeserved thus go and kill it?
What have you found to be the best way to get what you want?
I just flash my titties..
Just curious... when you do that, does your TV switch channels? If positive, go see a doctor, your plastic surgeon may have forgotten in a remote during the last breast implant you had.
Considering past news coming from Australia, I wouldn't be surprised if Fair Use became even more restricted after the review.
Highly likely given the TPP negotiations context. Please, do sign a petition.
Aussie aussie aussie, free! free! free!

At the least, you deserve a funny mod.

Now people can drive while watching porn...
Hear, hear... Finally, driving won't interrupt us from watching porn anymore!

...and could be nudged into a double-lunar capture to become a source of raw materials in cis-lunar space, I'll sign up for that one.
Ooopps... sorry... it slipped my fingers (bye southern China. North-eastern US coast was nice, wish you could see it).
does somebody know something they're not telling us about
Yes.... be afraid, be very afraid (just forget your internets spy on you and unemployment is bad... just give us your money)

I hear pigs can smell truffles underground, some flying pigs should do much better than the drones.
There... FTFY... (no good outcome for watchers)

Oenophiles, most likely.
Nah... they're wineing.
I.e. who's wining? Because customers are surely on the losing side.
Just saying.... the simplest answer is usually the right one.

Like: "There is always a well-known solution to every human problem--neat, plausible, and wrong."
So, much like the year of linux on the desktop, it's fleeting and goes down in flames?
maybe... but, like linux, I hear is also hard to melt down.

More silliness caused by a right to free speech. I can create a film or other work, without complying with ADA.
So? As long as distributing/publishing it is not your core business, I think you should be fine.

You just won't always make them your highest priority in life. If you can't find them, or don't appreciate them, it's your problem, not TV's.
I can still express my personal opinion of "They suck", can't I?
You not accepting it... it's your problem, not mine.
