  1. How about holding parents accountable to their kids to make sure they're their? Yet another parenting aspect being handed to the schools and teachers - what a joke? This is Texas right? So - Texas, the state of cowboys & leave me the %^&* alone is chipping students? I thought the GOP in that state wanted NO GOVT at all, and certainly nothing pertaining to BIG BROTHER. Perfect example of the GOP taking over education and privatizing the hell out of everything, including the textbook debacle, then to be moving onto consideration of chipping students to track them. Who's in the Senate & House that's in the back pocket of the tech companies involved? Are they contributing to the current SuperPAC %^&* that basically has put the corrupted nail in our national political system? Scents of a Civil War are already brewing and this does nothing but lend to the fight on either side Do Not Tread on Me with Chips!!!

So - Texas, the state of cowboys & leave me the %^&* alone is chipping students now !!! (for the sake of attendance, yeah right) I thought the GOP in that state wanted NO GOVT at all, and certainly nothing pertaining to BIG BROTHER, would ever, ever, ever consider such an invasive, socialist and dictatorial stance??? Perfect example of the GOP taking over education from actual teachers and educators & privatizing the hell out of everything, including the textbook debacle, then to be moving onto consideration of chipping students to track them. Who's in the Senate & House that's also in the back pocket of the tech companies involved for this RFID process? How many textbooks, $$$'s and other needed items were sacrificed to add this to the district budgets? Are they contributing to the current SuperPAC %^&* that basically has put the corrupted nail in our national political system? Why not use cool technology to block cell phone usage in the classroom, which is causing rampant problems in both public and private school? Put the same tech in hospitals that blocks access in certain areas, and do the same in schools. That way, kids can't use cell phones & can't be tracked when they're ON CAMPUS! Goal is attendance, so really, the RFID should only be tracking kids who are truant right??? Scents of a Civil War are already brewing and this does nothing but lend to the fight on either side - now that the GOP has been bought by the wealthiest in the world - what's next? Sniffing dogs that can detect recent sexual activity? I say - Do Not Tread on Me with Chips!!!

  3. Re:nVidia 9400M on NVIDIA Ships Decent DX10 Graphics Card For Under $100 · · Score: 2, Informative

Um. in the realm of great video cards, RADEON currently holds it with the 5870 series of HD cards, which are already DX11 ready and blow the socks off of anything Nvidia has, esp. in CrossFire configs. What I don't understand is why Nvidia drops this to market now, when it's still chewing on whether it'll do anything with DX 11? By that time, RADEON/ATI will be on it's 2nd Gen of their great HD cards, and Nvidia "might" be just rolling their out? Don't get me wrong, but onboard graphics are eons from the capacity of these cards, esp. in dual or triple SLI configs -and when you see the difference (which few do) I would guess that most folks would not be buying Dell, HP, EMachines crap online and building their own or looking at Cyberpower, Poly, MicroExpress, Falcon and others more regularly. Decent card only for what it does - do not expect to play ANY DX10 or DX 11 game in a decent FPS - it just can't do it!

What a joke - we're at where we were before in IE7 - the initial load is better, but the comparison begins and ends there. Firefox picks right up - where IE8 starts, and still runs past IE8 easily.

  5. Really on Microsoft Says IE Faster Than Chrome and Firefox · · Score: 1

Other than perhaps initial IE startup, Firefox outperforms IE by miles. If you use Firetune, which tweaks mem usage and adds a couple other nice features - along with an abundance of 1st class addons, Firefox is the best browser for speed, security, backing up, and just plain fun. AdBlock, Noscript and a few other addons help to enhance Firefox's own built-in security. What's not at all mentioned was the hardware - which has a defined impact on the experience while browsing. I'd even go so far as to say that Opera is much better than IE, as is Safari on Windows - With IETab Firefox can change itself to emulate IE, so pages that only function in IE-land also can work underneath Firefox. The developes at Mozilla also actively listen to their user-base, while M$ does pretty much what they want - much like GM, even though people wanted MPG and low cost cars, it still chose to pump out SUV tanks.
