It's funny he has been even modded up. It's complete piece of crap.
He is blaming sandboxing in IE with the fact it could not be done all correctly and because more often its not done correctly? That's a niece piece of FUD to throw around. What are the sources for this? Sandboxie has been quite successful in sandboxing any app. Then he goes on with his rant saying that if theres a security flaw in the sandboxing it affects millions of users. Guess what, without sandboxing those users would had been directly affected anyway. Sandboxing is extra layer of security. Is he saying that firewalls, extra layers of security, are completely useless?
Of course sandboxing does nothing against social attacks. Nothing does unless you want a completely locked down computer where you can't install or modify anything. Is he fucking retarted?
As what goes to "Windows being full of holes", did he even read the title of story? Actual Windows holes have been very seldom after like 2001. The exploit come from insecure plugins like Flash and PDF. It has nothing to do with Windows.
Having a house with windows and doors locked is a bit silly, especially when you could just as well build a bunker around your house. MS sees bunkers as competitors to be contained until MS has the functionality via buy out or "innovation'
Exactly. They just make the subtle changes in templates less subtle. They have a reason (money) to get around the blocking, like they already do. This isn't going to be some effectively perfect solution.
However, bonus content with movies makes a lot more sense than with music. I do enjoy the extra content, but theres not much of such you can have with music. Maybe a cappella, no lyrics or remix versions of the songs, but those would most likely just be pirated just as as the main music files too.
There is not a single land without any restrictions, because every country has laws. However, there are countries that don't have trade embargo's or restrictions in distribution of software with cryptography (both which probably effected SF). In addition some countries value privacy and freedom of speech a lot more. Sweden being a perfect example.
Well they do know that their government is like that, the placing of flowers outside Google China offices and the popularity of Avatar (because of unintentional references to China) show that.
It's not only Chinese government's concern, it's all of chinese. The country would drop into a total chaos if the government falls, and it would probably be bloody - history shows this. I think the citizens also understand that and think its better to live than let the bloody internal wars start again.
And what would they revolt for? To change Chinese culture and how the country works overnight? That must end well. Remember that the current Chinese government are the ones that stopped years long bloody internal wars and the dieing of millions of Chinese. I don't think the country could manage a huge change.
It could just as well be anyone else, even US gov to try to get people to blame China. Maybe it actually does have something to do with the fact that China isn't loaning so much money to US anymore and as an answer they're trying to make Chinese look bad. Maybe Google is in this plan too!
Yeah, anyone can throw in all kinds of theories, but we don't really know. It could just as likely be anyone else, even someone who just does it fun to see all these news around the internet.
Comment from article:
It's useless to ask the chinese government if they're responsible because the timing makes it so obvious they would feel it was pointless to admit it, It's just too obvious
Which is why I can't really understand the endless Windows vs Linux fighting here on slashdot. We have spend all this time fighting and completely forgot to laugh at how stupid Mac OS X users are.
Like I said, there are valid reasons for that and you have one. But lets be honest here, most people are only interested about this because it can break copy protections and will use it solely for playing pirated games.
It is perfectly fine to use cheat codes in single player games. No problem with that. The issue is about cheating in multiplayer games. No game has cheat codes enabled in those.
.. which I did mention in my post, but seriously that is a lot smaller problem and available for lesser users than on PC, where you just download a hack from internet and run it. However, only having access to packet data does remove some kind of cheats, like wallhacks for example.
Also theres a significant technical challenge to do live packet-modifying between PS3 and Internet. If someone is doing it, they probably are also capable of being subtle enough with their hacking. The major assholes running around at 100x speed, aimbotting with 180 angle and just being total idiots are the ones that ruin multiplayer experience from the other users, especially when theres tons of them.

I know it isn't really the same, but those looking for one, mkv2vob (PS3 Video Converter) is a really nice tool to convert 720p mkv files to format that PS3 supports. Usually you don't even need to transcode, so it takes like 1 minute per video file.
avi/xvid files work directly.
To stream them from computer, TVersity is the best one.
Once you get those set up, it's actually quite nice and convenient. PS3 software and menu is actually really nice for media center, a lot better than 360's. Again not probably the same as XBMC, but it's pretty convenient anyway.
I guess the main reason for this will be so you can play pirated games. Homebrew is already possible on PS3 and lets not kid ourselves, piracy is always what these things are mostly used for.
But even more worrysome is if this enables complete access to system and memory, cheating will become a problem. For example 360 hack isn't the same, you can't run your own code or modify memory on it - it merely allows you to play pirat^H^H^H^H^H backups. This will be a lot more serious hack.
I usually play on PC, but when I'm playing on PS3/360 I like that I know there aren't cheaters. While packet-modifying is theorically possible if there isn't any encryption or checksums in the network data, cheating on consoles is a lot smaller problem than on PC and some types of cheats (wallhacks etc) are impossible to create without direct access to memory and code.
AnoNet is one of those who use 1.0.0.0/8 for private VPN because everyone thought it wouldn't be in use. I am pretty sure there are A LOT of organizations and other services who do too.
anoNet is a decentralized friend-to-friend network built using VPNs and software BGP routers. anoNet works by making it difficult to learn the identities of others on the network allowing them to anonymously host content and IPv4 services. Assuming that a router administrator on such a metanet knows only information about the adjacent routers, standard routing protocols can take care of finding the proper path for a packet to take to reach its destination. All destinations further than one hop can for most people's threat models be considered anonymous. This is because only your immediate peers know your IP. Anyone not directly connected to you only knows you by an IP in the 1.0.0.0/8 range, and that IP is not necessarily tied to any identifiable information.
To avoid addressing conflict with the internet itself, the range 1.0.0.0/8 is used. This is to avoid conflicting with internal networks such as 10/8, 172.16/12 and 192.168/16, as well as assigned Internet ranges. As of January 2010 IANA has allocated 1/8 to APNIC.[1] If the service does not switch to another address range then Internet hosts using 1.0.0.0/8 will be inaccessible to AnoNet users.
Please, just please make it be one domain, like religiousblogs.com. Nothing worse than all the spam and pushed things and messages on the internet is such religious ones.
I do not think there is any god anyway. It's as likely possibility than that we would be living in a computer simulation. In fact, I suspect the later one is more likely possible.
Religion is something that was used in old times to control people and have them do "moral" actions (moral here being what the government considered good). It also was used to slay millions of people in crusades to other regions. The real reason most likely even wasn't about believing in god, it was the same power game that there is today. This doesn't apply just to Christians, it applies to every religion. Just see what a freaking mess the middle-east and areas around Israel is. All of that just because you believe in an imaginary person while the other person believes in an another imaginary person.
But since we are already talking about the god vs. computer simulation, is there any reason why we couldn't be living in someones simulation? Every year our own computer technology goes leaps forwards. It might seem simulating our whole world would be too much for a computer, but who really knows what the limits are? And if we are living in a simulation, how could we know we aren't? The system would prevent us from doing so.
And I do not mean this as the typical Matrix like system, which would be kind of stupid. I mean it as something where we don't exist at all outside of the simulation, other than maybe as some processes running in a data center (or someones bedroom closet). While I dont spend my days thinking about that, I think its a lot more likely thing than there being some invisible, everything knowing, a man who created everything somewhere in the space who listens to everyones wishes and tricks around with them.

Uh, what does? 13.0.0.0/8 is owned by Xerox. Which doesn't really make sense, but they were there to pick it up in 1991.
And as long as 4.2.2.2 remains ping-able so I can quickly whether just DNS or the net in general is down I'm okay with any reallocation.
It actually might not be for long, Level 3 is closing public access to it and only allowing its use for their own customers.
You don't probably have anything to worry about, but the owner of 69.69.69.69 is probably sweating about his leetness.
