There are 2 pads that are very similiar. One is made by Cross, the other Seiko. I have the Seiko and it's definitely cool. It's not a pressure sensitive pad, I don't think it is at least. You have to use a special pen for it to work, a pen with a little sensor in it. It does not have handwriting recognition, but builds a huge BMP of whatever you write on the pad. It's OK. Viewing it on a palm is tough. It's better to view the output on a PC. I find the Palm Portable Keyboard (PPK) a lot more functional. The bad side of the Seiko SmartPad is the pad only works for Seikos apps and only grabs an image. So I can't write text that I want to go into a to-do or whatever...
what was not mentioned was the amount of 3rd party hardware and software available for the palm. Tons more then for the revo. this is both consumer as well as developer software. If you are simply looking for a fast chip, the iPaq has a 206mhz ARM chip, tons of emulators, and other apps. True, you have to run a M$ OS, but they are getting a ton of traction these days....
after working at a number of large companies with co-ops, nearly every one I have ever worked with things they are going to come right out of school (HS or college) and be put on the absolute highest priority, most fun, sexiest work. They are stunned to find out they are CHEAP LABOR. Most also feel their 18-21 years of life experience along with their 2-3 years of Windoze experience makes them the perfect choice for the toughest, coolest work. What do schools tell these people? They should be telling them you are going to be my bitch for a few months, like it or get out.
I have always had this idea, so what do you think? The world of ST is suppose to be this ideal, perfect earth and such. However, the view we get of it is always through the eyes of the military elite. I would like to see a series based on the lifes of non-military, regular joe type people living in the ST world. Aliens they meet, general life on earth, vulcan, etc. More character evolution and less blast em'. Imagine viewing our world today only thru the eyes of a bunch of Special Forces nuts. Not exactly how I see things. So what do you think?
