  1. Re:Napster == Public Library WRONG! on The Heavenly Jukebox, From Hell · · Score: 1

umm, Unless the librarians I know are just mean, you have to give library books BACK! Which is why books still sell...You want to own it. Napster allows people to obtain something they had to buy before, and not pay anything for it. (own, even if it is a copy, so what, it's the same as the original to the person listening to it, and no, i don't mean EXACTLY the same, i just mean good enough not to buy it.) Nobody buys all that music after they listen to it, they just listen to it. Book publishers would have gone down a long time ago if you could go to the library and get a slightly faded copy of the book you wanted to read and never have to give it back.

  2. so why do they recommend win2k then... on IBM Takeover Of Novell? · · Score: 1

Ok, Food for thought... In a recent ad in PCCOMPUTING... (now "Smart Business" something or other) an Ibm ad specifically states that they "recommend windows 2000 professional." So, do they want to buy novell to bury it? This brings up all sorts of questions... too many people in bed together, and too many ties.

  3. Re:Article a little short on solutions. on Multiplayer Game Cheating · · Score: 1

I completely agree. I always play starcraft with team mode on, and one person is in charge of building, and the other goes out and attacks. That way I can guide my stupid fleet all the way across the map without them getting lost and walking all over hell and back, and my partner can build the next fleet and defend the base... why is it cheating if I learn how to tell the computer to do that? But on the other hand... that's part of the strategy that the game designer built in, isn't it... He wanted me to have to balance one over the other, and be vulnerable in some way... come to think of it, that's why we stopped playing starcraft after 57 stalemates in a row... Playing by the rules always wins, those who can't, cheat, but did they win?

I think that I will buy the game, and play it whilst eating a rare filet mignon. Maybe even let my dog into the neighbors yard for a little "relaxation" with their mutt in heat also... Please people, animals do not have souls, they simply cease to exist when eaten, never knowing the difference between living till they are 100, or dying as veal... I do not agree with torturing animals, but what kind of world do we live in where animal rights are fought for as vigorously as abortion rights? If i stick a puppy in a garbage disposal on national television, how long till i'm in jail or dead from an activist group? But now, how about i stick a small vacu-shredder up my crotch and chase my 4 month old unborn child around my uterus until it's cut into pieces? Or better yet, wait till he/she is 8 1/2 months old, pull it's head out, stick a scissors in it's skull and sucks it's brains out in the name of saving the mother's life, and preserving choice?!?!?! Man, this world is screwed up... (and i will most likely NOT buy that game... and don't even like steak)

I've had it since october 99, with two(2) people on the node with me... currently there are 157 people on the node with me... slight change in surfing, downloading or general speed. went from 300kilobytes per second, (yes, about 3mb per sec, when the server on their end let's me)35 ping on wod quake2 to about 260 kilobytes per second... (2.6mb per)47 ping on wod quake2. hmmmmm... 256kilo"bits" dsl is still about 1/8th as fast, and there is a max 250 people for my node... cable modem is just plain faster at the base level... now, if i wanted to pay for 7meg up/down dsl to my home, then it would be faster. But for $40 a month, you can't beat cable.

  11. The Real Truth. on Update On "Voices From The Hellmouth" · · Score: 1

Has anyone looked into what really came out of the massacre? Have you looked at where people got their comfort, and where those messed up kids might have turned to find real truth? An amazing amount of the kids started going to church again. I *think* over a third of the entire school rededicated their lives to Christ, and the whole christian community has banded together and become more tight knit. The answer to violence is not police, or laws, or post-tragedy ANYTHING. The answer is to raise your children with a sense of right and wrong. Teach them to respect human life, starting with unborn babies, and moving up to the elderly. There is a sickness in america, and the world for that matter, that stems from people being so afraid to discipline, strengthen and mold their children using strict guidelines that were designed to keep a family together. like it or not, the bible carries some incredible information that actually works when it comes to raising a family, and living a life that enriches others, not just taking what you can out of life, and then dying. I can't say those kids would have acted any different in another situation, but i know that if children today were raised the way they were when we founded this country, there would be a lot less problems. No, they would not be perfect, and there would still be violence, destruction, and every other tragedy the world faces today, but we would be much more able to handle it.

I know i'm screaming for flames here, but i don't care, it's time that america recognized it's destructive ways, and attemted some sort of repair. (yes, the children ARE our future) That repair can only be found in Christ, and the bible. And yes, I am extremely narrow minded when it comes to that fact. If you want to know more, then write me.
