Of course they have ships and technology that far back. Anyone that has seen Star Wars or read any of the books would know that. The jedi have been gaurdians of the galaxy for thousands of generations. Just because we have only been around for around 6 thousand years doesn't mean that the races in Star Wars haven't. They could of been around for millions of years. Remember, this is fiction it has nothin to do with the real world.
Babylon 5, from the first episode to the last will always be special. The character development is, in my opinion, the best ever done in a sci-fi series. The story is, quite simply, the greatest ever done. It is an epic that spans thousands of years. The way it portrays human nature is incredible. J. Michael Straczynski did a awsome job writing and directing Babylon 5. From the Earth-Minbari War, to the Narn-Centauri war, to the Great Shadow War, to Sheridans final showdown with Earth. The story is an epic of unparalled proportion. I thank the Sci-Fi channel for picking up the show. They have a real winner on thier hands.
In "The Geometry of Shadows" the technomages appear. They are fleeing the coming darkness of the shadows. One of the best lines of the show is spoken during this episode. Ulric the head techomage is telling Lando about his future "I see a great hand reaching out from the stars. And I hear sounds, the sounds of billions of people calling your name." Lando: "My followers." Ulric: "Your Victims." Another great line from that episode is the technomage's description of what a techomage is. "14 words to make someone fall in love with you, Seven words to make them go without pain. How to say goodbye to a friend that is dying. How to be poor. How to be rich. How to rediscover dreams when the world has stolen them from you."
The Vorticans shall rule the earth.
