don't confuse "profit" with "profit margin". The former is an expression of actual profit based on cost, the latter profit based on retail price. Both figures are correct, the only 'mistakes' made were in defeining/interpreting the distinction between the two.

LOL!!! sum1 w/ points mod this up! As one of those unfortunate enough to have written some prolog, when I first read the parent it took a second of parsing, plus reading fruther for context to get past the impression that the reference was to some piece of Prolog code somewhere that had supposedly calculated the question... ROTFL! I'd make an attempt, but my prolog is very rusty. Besides, I don't think as a decendant of the Golgafrinchans I would be likely to come up with anything better than "what is six times seven?"
CLose enough: I believe they currently run long, thin needles through packages and let the dogs sniff the needles for drug scents... Send everything FedEx overnight in a puncture resistant... uh jar of peanut butter?
I for one would like to have a button to press while issuing voice commands. This kind of thing doesn't have to be COMPLETELY hands free, I just don't want to have to do anything complicated with my hands, or anything that requires more than one quick glance. Fvck yeah I'd shell out 600 for one of these, but I'd insist on a cartridge based multi-disc changer: 6 disc's X ~14 hrs/disc = One Very Happy Ganjuror!!!
It's all a plot by an alien invasion force I tell ya! They've got plants in the Pentagon! Why do you think they chose WinCE? Cuz it's so damn hackable! Geeks of Earth: ensure your place in the new world order under alien rule! Help the invaders hack the new militia and live a life of privlege, or die with the rest of the Human scourge!
> Wait for the final product before passing final judgement...
Hrm... well, I guess I'll have to suspend my judgement of all BillSoft indefinately then? I mean really, when is any BS (MS) release (of Windoze at least) a "final product"? They have been industry trendsetters when it comes to releasing (and charging money for) software that should prolly be considered beta-ware at best! My personal guideline is wait at LEAST 2 service packs before installing to anything but a testbed.
The real problem noone seems to be addressing is that Winbloat2K HAS XXXXXX lines of code! The whole feature before function ethic they've pioneered has produced statistically UN-DEBUGGABLE code.
I won't pre-judge W2K, but neither do I expect it to be "stable" for 2+ SP's.
Both good points, especially the 1st one. I'm sure it'll be cost-prohibitive to consumers at first; such a quantum leap in storage capacity would however be incredibly well suited to archival purposes. As to keeping it out of the hands of the MPAA, we can only prey, er... pray. or rather they can prey... or better yet not prey... No wait, WE should pray that they WON'T prey... oh, skip it.

Don't forget the sheer mass of marketing power that pushed VHS... same reason CD's made it big over the other new-technologies for digital media storage they were competing with when they were young.
We see this all the time when new-tech comes out; it's often the product the masses believe is better that gets the cookies than the product that is truly better designed.
As to the Mac, frankly it IS better... on the INSIDE (the motorola chip is just simply more efficient, and the i386 instruction set sux ass) but since Apple has been fascist about letting the architecture specs out, we haven't seen good OS's/software for it. i386 has been made cheap, and OS's/software (fuck you very much Bill Gates) have been MARKETED hardcore enuff that the masses bought the PC's, even though their fundamental architectural design was/is notably inferior.
If only we could turn back time, and force apple to open the original architecture up to linux development... *sigh*

I personally prefer liquid/crystal varieties. the display is much clearer ;)
