It does nothing about the fact that if human beings are to outlive our current home then we HAVE to find a way to journey into the stars.
And that isn't necessarily about out-living the sun (measured - we hope - still in hundreds of million if not billions of years). It also means the possibility in decades, centuries or millenia to come of a good ol' fashioned "ELE" - to use the "Deep Impact" term.
