a little more complex than a traditional to-do list, but you can interconnect tasks and lay out projects in a freewheeling yet ridiculously detailed manner.
Privatization is always a good thing. If someone is making money (especially if that someone is a publically held company) the best interests of the whole are being served.
Publically held companies are driven to invest in maintenance and infrastructure when the end result is maximizing shareholder wealth. This model worked great for California utilities, and it continues to work well as we endeavor to privatize everything including jails, schools, and any other service that exists to benefit the public good.
If we didn't try to privatize everything, how could companies compete with superior service of a government monopoly?
Something is inherently wrong with those bearded geeks keeping the root servers running smoothly. What, are they just acting out of the kindness of their hearts? They obviously have a hidden agenda. Probably communists.
Leave it to wired and you slashdot wankers to screw up a perfectly good idea.
The worldwide power grid idea was detailed in fuller's book Critical Path and its not a new idea by any stretch (
Yeah bucky was a ridiculous optimist, but the jist of this whole book (and his life's work for that matter) seems to be that if we can eliminate inefficiencies and work together on a global scale, there will be more than enough power/food/resources for everyone to live extremely well.
Of course the wired people decided to drop their grid on a truly crap-tastic map which kills the whole point. take a look at the worldwide grid on bucky fuller's dymaxion map which shows the earth as one giant continent without distorting the relative sizes of the landmasses.
Electricity demand is low on one side of the world at night, they send their excess capacity to the other side of the globe where it is day. and vice versa. same deal with summer/winter in the northern / southern hemisphere. of course we need to solve the sticky problem of transmission loss:)
and if you are whining about being without power for a day someone needs to unplug your ass and send you outside for a little nature.
Factory in Czech republic, in the city Lodenice is known for one of the best qualities available on the market.
As a general rule, the Czech pressings are exceptional.
ALOT of the records I buy are pressed in the Czech republic. Many of the producers and djs I know have their music pressed there. Even after import duties, its cheaper AND the quality is better than from our friends down in Nashvegas.
That review sucked.

I share your enthusiasm, and I am typing this post on a powerbook, but how many people do you really know that are willing to think different?
The vast majority of consumers out there don't want to create their own "content" no matter how easy apple makes it. Most will be happy to be spoon fed their big budget restricted content, as long as it is convenient.
Entertainment for most americans is a passive sport.
the similarity stops there. mouse on mars makes fun bouncy interesting music, and aphex twin makes occasionally interesting music with lots fingernails on chalkboard sounds that a rabid horde of IDM drones mistake for music.
Jobs IS in the process of making computers easier and more accessible for uncle owen and aunt maru. They're not going to be obsolete in 18 months either cause every shred of mac hardware is already lagging behind the cutting edge, so what if they're slow. remember uncle owen has such meager needs it doesn't matter if his computer is fast.
THe only thing apple has to overcome is the idiotic perception that "macs don't work with pcs" and that they are too expensive or too stylish for uncle owen's simple tastes.

$40?
try $55 a month.
Roadrunner is raising their prices in my area next month so all the clueless bandwidth hogging aol-ians can pay double for their retarded interface at the expense of MY bandwidth.
It would be neat to see it used as a sort of barometer for the dj to measure the reactions of the audience to the mix.
Reminds me of a technology used in the book Interface by stephen bury (aka neil stephenson) - where a politician was using these sort of mood measuring wristwatches to gauge different population segments' reaction to his speeches AND feed the input back into the politician in realtime.
(brilliant premise, though the book was only so-so.)
the only result of this new technology i can see will be more bad trance music:)
Any technology that uses this kind of input as averages from a group output average or mediocre music. there is already plenty of mediocre dance music out there.
i like the idea, but i only see more stupid drumroll buildups and more stupid ethereal breakowns as a result.
DIAF n00b
i happen to be a big fan of freemind.

An idea borrowed from 3M.
They only get 15% though.
Innovation time.

yeah the ipod is a costly little toy.
have you looked at the archos mp3 player?
twice the space, plus recording, plus $100 less plus runs on AA batteries, plus linux/windows/mac software.
thank you.
Step 1: using a 10mm wrench, loosen and then remove the negative battery cable from the negative battery terminal.
Step 2: tap the brake pedal a few times
Step 3: reconnect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal.
Idiot light gone.
it would probably be a good idea to include a link next time :)
This story is an obvious troll.
