Not talking about patents. If someone takes the work of a famous artist and uses it as a base for a piece of their own they can still get sued. Fan art and fan fiction are a prime example of that.

I took a copyright law class not too long ago and after said class I came to the conclusion that exclusive copyright even for a short period is theft. If you put exclusive protection to a piece of work then your stealing that idea from the creative pool and preventing its usage by everyone else who may have had that idea. Now what if that one idea was what would have set an individual on the path to being an artist but the person didn't even bother because someone owned it already. What if that person were to become the next Picasso? The next Michel Angelo, Julie Bell, Luis Royo or Olivia De Berardinis? How could anyone let the world be deprived of that? Keep in mind that this comment is from an artist point of view. I write, draw, paint and honestly I want other artist to be able to take my work and put their own twist on it or make it something completely different. With the current copyright laws that's not possible unless you know about the Creative Commons License. http://creativecommons.org/

It's my opinion that this tech would greatly improve the Wii... you would no longer have to worry about "opps I forgot to wrap the strap on the Wii-mote around my wrist and the Wii-mote has slipped out of my sweaty hand that has been holding the stupid thing for an hour now and something is busted because the Wii-mote flew out of my hand!" @_@

Here here! I completely agree, a combination of that and the Creative Commons would be perfect!

Okay, basic copyrights work like this. Once the author creates the work the automatic copyright that is placed on the work (with out registering it with the copyright office, something you do to help protect yourself from copyright law suites but its not necessary) last for the life of the author plus 75 years. If there is more than one author then the copyright last for the life of all authors, once the lats author has died then its 75 years on top of that. Also if there is more than one author you need the permission of all living authors or the representative that the authors chose in order to use their work. That's why as an artist I'm all for the Creative Commons License. http://creativecommons.org/

I happen to think that any kind of research that can improve quality of life is a good thing! From 'simple' transgenic mice to stem cell research, with the proper precautions in place anything is possible and that is a beautiful thing.

I have read all the post's and all of them have very good points that I am more than willing to admit that I didn't take into consideration when I posted. For the short time it took me to post that I had forgotten where I was posting to. I know when to back down and I am doing so. PS: geekmux I wasn't responding like that to your post, your post was funny it's the Anonymous Coward that I was posting to.

Ya, if I had been you I would have called customer care again or just requested a supervisor because the rep you were talking to had no f****ing clue what they were talking about.

If your so stupid that a condom is such a hard-core turn off then you need to be chemically castrated to prevent the stupidity from spreading! On the off chance that you are smart and this is simply a laps in good judgment you need to find a hotter lay than the one you have and if your married well I guess it's a moot point either way.

I understand where stonewallred and DaFallus are coming from. I have had the same thoughts as both, but what stonewallred is referring to is the people who act on their inappropriate attractions to children not everyone whos ever had an inappropriate attraction to someone their jr. I'm a 24 year old female and I've had moments where I though individual X was attractive but quickly realized after talking with them that they were out of my age range. So in the defense of the average person it's almost impossible to tell who's jail bait and who's not. You just have to make it a habit to card them ^_^
