  1. Re:While everyone is arguing over drive encryption on Only 27% of Organizations Use Encryption · · Score: 1

thousands of businesses are using plain FTP and email to throw unencrypted files around to & from other companies daily.

Entirely true and usually the information is just simple things like lists of customer names and addresses. Payment information is pretty much always encrypted due to PCI compliance reasons but simple customer information is not. And really unless you have a very exclusive clientele it really doesn't matter, after all who cares about the name of generic redneck #46576876 living in an apartment somewhere who happened to place an order for product XYZ?

  2. Re:Reboot how? on Spider-Man 4 Scrapped, Franchise Reboot Planned · · Score: 1

God forbid they breach the cannon of Spider-Man.

"Reboot" means what it means, no more, no less. The last comic-book reboot was Batman Begins, a full-hearted plunge into the spirit and fiction of the original that terminated an increasingly lost and bewildered series of films.

Yes except the older batman movies kind of sucked.... The new spider man movies were actually pretty freaking good. Even the third one was good(although it really should have and could have been at least two movies). I didn't hear anyone complaining about the old batman movies not being continued but I really have no clue why the executives wouldn't just delay the next release date a year or two to keep a star cast/director around.

If it's a technology person, that's a red flag. I'd expect them to at least have their own domain name. It doesn't cost THAT much and looks far more professional.

Heck, even my cat has her own domain name.

If it's a non-tech field, meh, I don't care that much. But I have to chuckle when I see a small business with a website and their own domain name, but still using @comcast or @aol on their business card for email.

As a tech person I see zero reason to have my own domain name. I have enough servers to keep track of at work why should I bother getting one more than those for my personal life? I have a gmail account for my personal/business needs which works quite well and a yahoo account for my BS needs. Frankly at this point in time google or yahoo going out of business and shutting down their mail service is not a very likely prospect.

  4. Re:Of course we're dissatisfied on IT Job Satisfaction Plummets To All-Time Low · · Score: 1

No wonder the workers are dissatisfied. (And this is just one of the ways many IT workers are treated poorly.)

This is very true, from what I've seen IT workers usually have insanely high expectations put on them compared to any other department. I'd love to know how many companies expect their sales team to have a 99.9% success rate like they expect from their IT department.
