What did I first do with Linux? Struggled, cursed it, kept trying, and eventually had a workable installation of OpenLinux and Star Office, but never did get the sound card in that old HP desktop to work, after hours of recompiling. That would have been around 1998, if memory serves.
Linux has steadily improved since then, and now I don't struggle much at all with Xubuntu on a well aged but much loved Thinkpad.
