there is no doubt that something will need to be done at some point in time to save money, especialy the way things are going now.
people may be worried that the students can cheat, but come on... are we far enough in technological perspective to prevent that? I think so.
Here's a suggestion:
Grid Computing. If it is a powerful computer, temporarily hook a monitor up to it so you can navigate to a grid computing website and let them use your whole computer.
Another suggestion:
Use it as a "desktop", as long as there is a VGA input, you can hook a monitor up to it and kind of "dock" everything to it, such as your mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc. It works well, I do it.
"The question is not "IF", but "HOW MUCH"."
I have to agree with this. But it also depends on how high of quality we are talking about. If we are given options to stream movies like how netflix does it, then it may be worth it. However if we are given the same crappy quality that we see on youtube today, paying money is not worth it at all, even if its 10 cents.
I have to completely agree with the quote as well. The effort and aim of public education is to create a society in which the children grow up without moving out of their current families socio-economic class. Such as that a poor child does not move into a rich status after going through schooling. The government doesn't want us to change.
