Well it's nice to see that someone else is open minded in the geek community! I'm an MCSE, I hate Micr$oft products, but in this industry that's sort of irrelevant. I know that Windows has it's place in the work world. Linux is a strong OS, but Windows has market support and therefore has a key foot hold that makes it better than Linux. I use Linux at home for my server because I'll only ever have to reboot it if I upgrade the kernel. NT uptime on the otherhand is a FAR cry from Linux. At work we are a Micro$oft solutions provider. These NT systems need to be rebooted and have troubleshooting run ALL day! Any business would be far better off running in a Linux environment, but let's be real here. Companies hire consulting firms (like mine) to purchase equipment and setup networked environments in their offices. Hardware has NO margin thanks to crazy competition in the industry and installation of a system doesn't take more than a few weeks (a few months tops). If firms installed Linux or Mac based systems they would be able to install the system and come back on occasion for security patches and other general and unavoidable maintenece. However, you install a Micro$oft based solution and you can do what I do do and provide four 8 hour days of support on site because the systems constantly need attendance for some reason or another. Now the company is reliant on our firm for support and we make more money. Microsoft is easy to use and corporate users have an easier time adjusting to an interface that looks like what they use at home. It's certainley not the best solution, but I'm open minded enough to understand why it's used. I started using Linux because I was open minded enough to use it and because I support competition and would like to see the OS grow to be adopted in the business environment. I just wish some of my geek friends would admit that Micro$oft has a function and not to slag me everytime I say that I'm an NT admin by trade. ------------ Those are my thoughts not yours!
The new Rios have support for SMDI, but also support non-crippled MP3z. Let's be real though... Who is going to load a SMDI MP3 onto their player when they could get a regular MP3 easier than buying an SMDI from some online company.
Cool project! Not sure I'd spend over a G note on fluid to overclock, but I'd say their results were pretty damn impressive!! a Celeron 366 running faster than an Athalon 600?! NICE work boys!
# Begin Rant I think people have to be a little more realistic about all this stuff going on with MP3z... I mean come on, we all know it' illegal. I certainly beleive that MP3z have a place in the market. It makes awesome promo material. In the eighties people traded bootleg tapes and copied tapes for their friends. Now the same is true for MP3z. Granted it takes place on on a much grander scale because of the easy at which people can trade via the internet, but I think both sides are really missing the point. MP3z and data transfer is here to stay! You can't stuff the toothpaste back in the tube or stop this craze in any way. RIAA should be focusing their resources on how to harness it not hinder it. At the same time however I think we should stop slaggin' people so hard about needing to make a buck. I agree they make too much money, but they still need jobs. Music can't be FREE if a musician wants to give away their music that's their perogative, but they can't have a label and do it. You want free music and to promote MP3z boycott the labels. They're the jerks in this whole stink. I on the other hand support artists like Limp Bizkit (The best band in the world), who embrace MP3z because they are a band for the people and people respect that. I download MP3z of my favorite artists like LB, RHCP and the HIP, but I still buy theur discs cause I wanna support them. Linking is illegal I think we should face that, but I still think the RIAA is wasting their time cause they'll get nothing accomplished if the get a ruling anyway. Are they going to continue to sue the 4 million people that post illegal links? I think not! If you're worried about not making enough money why the hell are you spending so much money in a hopeless legal venture!?!? # End Rant
I doubt that you could use it on AGP. AGP=Accelerated Graphics Port Anyone wanna start a new MOBO company to have full bus speed adapter slots for these puppies? We could make a killing!
What a waste! Why spend on all that money on one or more G4s and then stick it in a PCI slot? That's like putting a ferrari engine in a VW beetle. Sure the bug goes fast, but don't you think you could have found a better use for that engine? PCI slots are fast, but not nearly fast enough for this to be a worthwhile venture. You wanna build a cheap supercomputer? Wulf it instead! At least that way you'll get the full potential of the processor and not choke off a great chip.
You don't think that enhanced human ability isn't a viable market? PLEASE!! Look at the technology sector. The fastest growing market in history and it's showing no sign of slowing down or creating any less billionares. For the most part it's about productivity and enhancing the human form for increased strength, intellengence, or extension of life would be a pretty big seller if you ask me. I beleive there will be a serious battle over patents. The only issue that will cloud the procedure is morality.
Funny that he was talking about the fear of advancement by our species and you retort with exactly that. FEAR. Where would we be if no one had the guts to see if the world was flat? Space travel to dangerous? Well we wouldn't want to risk a few lives on an already overpopulated planet to have the chance at advancing ourselves now would we?

This is a very extreme oversite don't you think? I hope someone is getting seriously fired over this.
