  1. Re:This is dangerous stuff to mess around with... on Computer Forensics · · Score: 3, Interesting

thats true. I tooke a computer forensics class at my school about a year and a half ago, it was a great class and this book was one of the ones we used. One of the main points our professor drove home was properly maintiaing a chain of evidence. This is something that would be second nature to a criminal justice major but is pretty foreign to someone in computer science. As far as being a forensic investigator, i would look for a GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst certifcation. I know that alot of people are dubious about how much stock they put in certifications but this is really a good one. To date there are only 124 people who have obtained this certification. more info about it here: http://www.giac.org/GCFA.php

As far as great leaps in Mathematics go, Erdos along with Atle Selberg gave an elementary proof for the Prime Number Theorem.

Selberg got most of the credit because he published the second half of the proof on his own without giving credit to Erdos. Selberg won the 1950 Fields Medal for it, and Erdos got little credit.

I understand the goal of D, but personally I like the idea in C and C++ where the base laguage is simple (especially C) and all the complicated stuff is in libraries. It makes it easy to get started with the language and learn the more powerful stuff as its needed. It seems to be the goal of D to toss a bunch of stuff in the language itself and let the programmer sort it out. I could imagine it being a real pain for a new programmer to learn a language like that.
