  1. Re:Perhaps they can make it possible to configure on MythTV 0.19 Released · · Score: 1

I am fairly sure that scanning with DVB is broken at the present time, It works for some people but not others. The scan feature will miss channels and the only way to get them is to continue to scan again and again till you get them. Its mentioned in the mythtv-dev mailing list. The import channels.conf seems to be the best solution.

I am stuck using a version from just before the livetv changes went in, circa november. Though this version has a lot of faults compared to the new one its quite reliable, and it can best of all it can scan.

Really the issue here isnt mythtv its I saved $20 on my tuner cards and ended up getting one where the driver was not going to be activly supported. $40 more would have saved me tens (if not hundreds) of hours tinkering over the last 2 years. All the time I saved by not having to watch tv when it was scheduled.

hmm first up bugger some one else thought of this too. Im a bio/pscyho/computer scientist and i have thought of trying to make one of these before. Lets see if i can answer some of these questions (nd for the first time make it off 1). to the above your absoultly right its probably goign to be a while before we figure out how NN's might work. In between now and then its an art. If we can build one that works the damn might never work again. Or some time or another it might just take a holiday. Diagnosis of these things is going to be close to impossible (maybee we could make a NN to daignose them). I think whats important is to rember that if it works well it works lets be happy at that. Some of these things are quite good at what they do. one of the possible advantages (re above some where) is that we only need one layer the actual packets move through the system and go where they need to go. No examine and switch needed. are NN turing machines, well imho opnion they are rember a turing machine needs infint(or at least unbounded) memory space. With that on in mind you should be able to solve any anolog system using one. How long it takes is just up to you. We are so used to seing T machines as serial computers we dont think there could be some other possibility. Remeber it is possible smash your head against your desk and see!! if this doenst make sense I blame my uni exams

I cant see that taking your serevers overseas is going to help. You want people to be able to access your information from inside the US too. As long as you are in the US and its zone of control, your government is going to be able to get at you. Rember its the want to do the 'crime' that you get done for not actualy doing it (of course if you dont do it its hard to get busted for). That may make no sense but for most crimes the only way they can prove that you wanted to do it was to find that you have done it, so putting you information some where overseas may not break there laws but it may break yours (ie australia commit pedophila overseas as an OZ citz and when you return you will still get busted, NOTE: thats an example not a problem in my mind). The only solution is to protect you right to free speach, in a democratic land we can only blame our selves when the law doesnt work out when we dont like it.

This is great news, even though this isnt the open source licence that many of us what to see we have to be aware of some of the realties of the situation. 1. the chances of a linux port just went to about 99% (If you listen quietly you can hear my win98 partion being removed in the background). 2. This is probably the first code that bullfrog has probably released, if it works out well they will probably do it again. 3. they still have the right to do what they want with it, its theirs. I am a student and i hate it when some one steals my 3 months work and presents it as their own. The right to owning intellectual property is one of the greatest rights we can have. I know I onw no land or goods but i know a lot of things. any way it seems like so many people are peeved about what microsoft are doing to slashdot, the poor old peter is getting torn to peices for doing some thing that is good.
