Don't listen to all of these posts telling you to do all the legwork. What their authors are either forgetting or outright don't know is that the most successfull people have the ability to impress others people to assist them in accomplishing something (i.e. Torvald, open source, duh...), hence you get far more done, and with higher quality.
I don't have any real good encryption resources, but there is another message board here that might be pretty receptive to your plight.
    Good Luck

Scornful, are we? I [unfortunately] don't see that happenning here...

  3. Would it get pissed? on Ask Jordan Pollack About AI - Or Anything Else · · Score: 1

With the idea of IA there is always the concept of being self-aware... I assume that the many posts mentioning indistinguishability from human intellect are expecting it to act and respond emotionally. Who decides -- if at all -- how emotional and which emotions are appropriate for a given situation?

  4. Yes and no... on The Cluetrain Manifesto · · Score: 1

You have a valid point, it isn't as cut-and-dried as many would have it seem. I think the thing to keep in mind is that books and articles like this -- understanding, I haven't read it -- tend to be very general in the changes they speak of. It won't be good for everybody , nothing in a capitalist society truly can be. It also can't because this still is a society of free-thinking people, and many simply will not allow themselves to take advantage of advances and things considered "new." The thing to remember is that it doesn't make them wrong; it merely shows that they think differently, which is what communication is really about.

Remember the days people didn't know or understand what computers were or would be capable of (kinda like now)? They wrote books like 1984 and worried that Big Brother was watching... so what do we do now that Big Brother might be your little sister... Glad this didn't happen to me.
