I feel like I am this user!! I have been setting up computer hardware and microsoft operational system from a very young age, but never really gave Linux a chance. I got in touch with it during computational mathematics college but never realy felt the need to properly install it myself. It is incredible how stable Windows XP is, I'm currently using the 64 bit version, I can leave my computer running for weeks without any problem.
It does feels like a good idea to try Linux, this sounds like a good opportunity to do so.
