Do you take yourself seriously when you say stuff like that? Isn't 5,000 years of human history enough to teach you that SOME level of market regulation and trust-busting is necessary for a market to work?

The alternative is having one estate / corp person eventually owning EVERYTHING (a king). The "marketplace" corrects this in the form of a bloody revolution, but that's a pretty terrible system to live under.

Lisen, stock scams may be "fair," but they are NOT cool. Obviously, they are terrible for the person getting scammed, but they are also pretty bad for the rest of us who have to pay for the sucker's medicare and medicade after he blows his retirement account.

This isn't about "ethics" so much as Selfish Gene Theory. For the curious, SGT takes the gene's-eye-view of evolution, and is able to finally answer all the questions Darwin could not answer with his organism's-view look at evolution.

The most fit organism, from an evolutionary perspective, is NOT an organism which ensures its own procreation; it is an organism which ensures the procreation of ANY organism which shares genes with it. The more genes you have in common with a person, the more likely you are to sacrifice yourself for that person. This ends up explaining everything from family ties ("I would lay down my life to save two of my brothers, four of my cousins, etc..") to our tendency to help other mammals more than reptiles or birds or fish. It also, somewhat, explains racism.

It's not about philosophy. It's about evolution.

The cities in Ohio are surrounded by "luxury" apartment complexes. These are, essentially, little nature preserves surrounded by city. They only have one road in/out, so no ambulances or fire trucks ever drive by, and there is NO traffic noise. Everyone has lakeside property (man-made lakes, though). They are totally surrounded by trees, so you can't see the rest of the city when you are inside. On a short walk from your apartment to your car, you are likely to pass rabbits, ducks, squirrels, and other naturey things. Despite this, you can be almost anywhere in the city in 10 minutes.

Living in the city does NOT imply any of the things you mention, if you are willing to pay a little extra for it.

A bum does NOT have this freedom. I never claimed that wealth guarantees perpetual bliss.

You aren't FORCED to have any other responsibilities. You can have them if you choose. It's your option. That's freedom. You are never forced to do anything when you are free.

How do you expect to do that? Have news cameras in the mosques every day recording the bad teachings? Have non-muslims attending the mosque sermons and standing up and shouting when bad teachings are mentioned?

Should we have protesters outside of christian churches every time there is a sermon on 1 Timothy (it is blatantly sexist)? Should we chant and jeer outside churches that teach the parts of the bible about male genital manipulation (circumcision)?

What about protesting outside jewish Temple? The only way to be God's of chosen people is to be born of a jewish mother. That is what we call racism.

All three of the abrahamic religions (jew, muslim, christian) include teachings which include tacit approval for slavery.

Face it: if we start exposing religions for being racist, sexist, and overflowing with evil anti-social ideologies, they will all crumble, not just extremist Islam.
