    Instead of pushing for IPv6, there should be an effort towards developing against a more abstract network model such that applications do not care if they are using IPv4 or IPv6 or IPv42, such that protocol translation between different network families can be implemented where necessary.

    You mean something like the OSI model?

    I'm about 3 miles north of Paine Field now. Besides seeing all the brand new (and often unpainted) Boeings there is also quite the refurb industry at PAE so I see lots of interesting liveries.

    The best was the first flight of the Dreamliner came over my house at about 1000ft, with the chase planes. The other day I had to go down to Mukilteo down the Boeing Freeway and saw the three DreamLifters all parked side by side. Those are freaking big ass planes!

    Didn't you have a crash just outside of Merrill about a year ago?

    When I was working in Anchorage I use to take some lunches out at Hood Lake just to watch the traffic. GA in AK is amazing.

    Good old IMTS. I (p)hacked one back in the early 80s. Ran a ribbon cable from a set of thumbwheels to the phone number matrix. 25w with a tube final. The phone number setting only required the NPA and last four digits. The NXX was not transmitted and was decided in the local office. I still hear a carrier tone on the YJ channel in Everett WA.

    And for a lot of the remote towns and villages in AK the landlines and cell service are delivered by sat. Geosync RTT plays hell with VoIP (for carrier class.) Often ended up sending it "analog" E&M (ok, PCM) over the sat and then turning it into VoIP.

    ..to copy a Chef is more than recipe. There is a style to the knife work, cooking and other skills required beyond ingredients.

    Seldom does the chef actually cook any part of your meal. The chef runs the kitchen, trains the line cooks, and expedites. He teaches the kitchen to follow his menu/recipes even if he is there or now.

    You should be able to, after training, replace any of the kitchen staff with any Bob, Jerry or Phil and still get the same food out to the table.

    You can replace a piano player but not the lead guitarist.

    Unless you're a big name chef, yes. Food service pays crap all. Often the wait-staff makes more than the kitchen folks, including the chef and line cooks.

    And most would argue that if a behavior is truly genetically determined, such that you literally cannot choose otherwise, it would in fact make infidelity less despicable.
