I completely agree. Right now, the memristor is more of something theoretical physicists splooge over rather than something that will be anywhere near useful in the foreseeable future.
I believe its like a lot of the quantum innovations currently being worked on (read IEEE potentials, there are a bunch)... lots of potential, but nothing concrete yet.
