I am not knocking FB as a tool in and of itself, in fact I am very grateful to them for letting my daughter find me after 16 years of seperation (true story - she searched my name and sent me a message) but come on, they state clearly that if you want to plant a garden (or whatever) the developer gets to see all of your info. just Don't Do It.

you are referring to your Puritan ancestors, they were actually fleeing England because the Anglican (C. of E.) Church was to "Liberal", and they wanted tighter religious restrictions on civil life (the "Blue" laws, like no smiling on a Sunday. Or maybe you meant Kennedy?
The Revolution had much more to do with Britian trying to maintain a common currency throughout the Empire, not with the tea tax etc. most people learn about in grade school.
As for the World Wars - you came late and did little in the First, and had to be attacked by the Japanese at Pearl to get dragged into the Second.
I notice you left out your wars of agression (1812, Spanish American, defending slave-owners at the Alamo, Vietnam etc.), most of which you got kicked out of by the people you were pushing around (read: not leaving alone).
As to the actual Parent - I as a proud Canadian believe that this minister should resign. He won't, but he should.
Double-Jeopardy prevents you from being charged with the same crime twice. What was being suggested is that she should now be indicted with the correct charge.
It the DA indicts you for extortion after finding your murder victim, and the case is tossed, you can still be charged for murder.
Sorry to dis-aillusion you, but take a look at NU standard of living data - we actually have quite good health care up here. There is a lot of scare mongering about "long waigts", and in some of the bigger cities you might have to wait a few hours if you walk into emerg. without a critical condition.
But I don't have to reach into my pocket to pay for a visit to a clinic or my physician. And when my mother had to spend a month in the hospital, we did not have to mortgage her house.
And - best for last - if you come down with a serious illness up here, you won't ever get told "sorry, you you don't have insurance, go somewhere else to die."
Last time i went to a hospital, I was treated within 2 hours - and it was a non-life threatening injury. seeing the guy wheeled in on a stretcher, covered in blood, it was no problem letting him go first (they call that "triage").
Get the facts.
There is a logical fallacy here - try this, if you take a car in to the local garage, but forget to empty the trunk of a load of hard-copy kiddie porn, and the mechanic needs to get at wiring via opening the trunk, can he turn over the magazines to the cops?
