I would seriously consider finding other interests that you may have outside of the IT space.
Sign up to a salsa dancing club or some other social setting where you are comfortable being in and also have an interest in.
You might find it easier to approach the other sex when your having fun and sharing in an activity that promotes more of a social interaction.
