Kind of a silly question considering the nature of politics, don't you think? But one of the reasons might also be that the media giants act as the state's propaganda machine in determining what people see and hear for manipulating public opinion, while at the same time propping up the illusion of freedom and providing 'great' entertainment.
I'd bet they'd be willing to at least take a look.

That's a load of crap. A feudal society requires a very powerful authority to exist. Absence of authority is more properly termed anarchism. A system that requires self discipline. Which just happens to be the ultimate goal of communist theory, where the state withers and dies. We can't rightfully describe ourselves as truly human until that happens.
The only way to stop this bullshit is to mandate that all campaigns be publicly funded... We need to get money out of politics
